Anyone have any intel on Hotel Zabamar?
I heard from a guy at LA in Jan $50/ night
Hotel on the little side street leading to the CoCal.

I just called and spoke to Kevin & he told me:
-1) there are no prices yet for July 4th weekend
because the owner hasn't set the prices yet
-2) the current cheapest available room was $65

Now this was over the phone from the US pricing
& info so maybe I didn't talk to the right guy!

Anyone have any better intel on this place?

Thanks,
Costareeker

It is the "Hotel Zanzibar" and if Cocal is full and need a place to stay, will certainly offer a decent night lodging at a fair price. The rooms (high season) were in the $70 range and there is a $10 guest fee. New mattresses were being brought in as I toured a typical room and the small but adequate pool area. Rooms were small and not many amenities but we are talking "budget" and "in a pinch situation" at best. 24 hour security and 50 yards from Cocal gate. In low season, rooms will really be at a bargain price. No restaurant but can eat at Cocal or at nearby sodas.

Hope this helps.

This Site claims to list and rate all 98 lodging facilities of all kinds in Jaco and they say Hotel Zabamar:
http://www.booking.com/hotel/cr/zabamar ... ight_room= << 28 pix of rooms and surroundings
Here's the hotel's Site: http://www.hotelzabamar.com/
Perhaps Zanzibar was an older name for this facility? Because such a name isn't currently listed...
