I have never flown with them because the flight I would have to take stops in Mexico City. I hate stopping once I leave US airspace, I want to get to SJO as quickly as possible.

I can't say much abou the airline since I've never flown them. However, the flights are a cheaper but usually include a long ass layer in Mexico City.

No gracias.

Flew on them once from NJ to Alcapulco. The outgoing flight was fine, the return flight was god awful. The original flight crew refused to make the return flight to JFK and forced the airlines to fly in a replacement crew. Stuck in the airport lounge over 6 hours waiting to leave. Never flew that airlines again.

I get these e-mail "flight alerts" on discounted fares from LAX to SJ and it seems that 90% of the "cheapest" fares are on AeroMexico. I figure if you're constantly offering cheap fares it's for a reason and I'm inclined to stay away from these guys. As an alternative, COPA Air often has good fares and I have flown them on numerous occasions and always a positive experience. Same with TACA (Avianca now) although TACA fares are not always that least expensive. I avoid the U.S. airlines as much as I can mainly because the fat..obese..arrogant and old flight attendants and LOUSY overall service.

I booked two r/t tickets MDE - JFK for $543 each on COPA even though Aeromexico was offering slightly cheaper flights. When I looked at the travel times for the AeroMex flights, 22 & 13 hours did not impress me. For a few bucks more, I get legacy-style service, 7 & 8 hour travel times and MileagePlus miles for my trips in South and Central America. COPA and Avianca are my preferred carriers for travel to the US and in Latin America... even if it costs me a little more.

That's the problem, usually 3 hours average in Mex City. I flew LAX>SJO last November. They basically make you pass through their complete security process with with your luggage then recheck it each time you land and that's part of the reason for long layovers I imagine. Generally speaking you have to make a decision if the longer trip time is worth the lower fair. They have some relatively short flights to SJO and MDE from LAX but for a few dollars more there are usually better options, especially LAX>SJO.

I have never had an issue with them. Flights were enjoyable.

Delays in Mexico City are normal. I avoid it when I can.

I have flown Aeromexico as part of a Delta co-share flight straight out of ATL.

AeroMexico is not well liked on this site: http://www.airlikes.com/aeromexico-reviews

I have flown them for many years. They are really not bad but sometimes the layovers might get you. Look into first class as the prices are decent compared to our airlines. If you do have a longer layover, consider paying the one time fee to get into the business lounge. it can pay off and give you a comfort zone while waiting.
