To whoever the ADMIN was that deleted my post in another thread. If you are going to delete a comment that was nothing more than an answer to another members question at least have the decency to PM the person whose post you are deleting. A little common courtesy is not that difficult and goes a long way with not alienating people who post useful information. If it is too difficult to PM the member maybe just edit the offending information with a short note as to why it was edited.

My friend, it is/was not just your post that was deleted WITHOUT ANY COMMENT NOR EXPLANATION!!! It was ALSO a whole thread!! It was a thread concerning a certain puta who many think is great (GREAT ACTRESS ); who many think that she loves being with them (Man does she have them fooled); and who does not want to be talked about on CRT What I have been told by someone who knows her is that she complained to a member who then complained to Admin3. Who then decided (with NO discussion) to remove the thread

Lets see, we cannot talk about a puta here in Costa Rica, We cannot discuss rumors (even when stating they are just rumors)! Many are afraid to post anything critical of certain establishments for fear of reprisal!!! Just WHAT THE HELL ARE WE SUPPOSE TO DISCUSS THE WEATHER, THE VOLCANOS THE ZIP LINES OH, I forgot, there no longer seems to be a problem with discussing politics, religion, race, etc. nor with personal attacks of other members And they wonder where all the old members have gone and WHY many former posters no longer even read CRT!!

I personally had no interest in the thread that was deleted, had not posted on it, and have no interest in the puta involved. I DO/DID have an interest in the continued success of CRT. But if it is going to continue to be run as a dictatorship with new rules every time something is said that displeases the owner/s or their Admins; and, solely for their benefit with no concern for what the original purpose of CRT was nor for the concerns nor desires of the membership, then in my opinion CRT is doomed!!!

They may own and run CRT, BUT it is the membership that gives it life (or death). It is what the members post that draws new members, that makes it interesting reading, and keeps people coming back for more.

Actually, most of the people in the thread had already edited it down to nothing and it no longer made much sense. A really sad state of affairs, and I agree completely with BangBang. I didn't delete the thread out of love for this hooker, but for the fact that it was totally decimated by the posters and I had received several PMs about it already.

I assumed that since the original poster had requested that it be deleted (he flagged his own post and put the delete request in the comments), it would not be necessary to contact him via PM.

To be honest, I do NOT like deleting content, and I have little or no sympathy for the girl being "outed" for working the Del Rey. If someone wants to start the thread again, and post her first name, along with a detailed description of why she is such a hot hooker, then be my guest.

I apologize to Ilv4play, if he had a reply had been in the deleted thread. What he should do, if he really wants to push this forward is create a totally new thread and be the author of it.

CRT is already on a slippery slope....and lacks the oomph it had just a couple of years ago.

too bad there isn't a competing site to share information not available here or vice versa , actually there was tica land for a while but that imploded as well

All the above deleting surely happened but I believe Bro Ilv4play may be talking about some info he provided in a Thread about fishing charters out of the Jaco/Quepos area. I agree with Bro Chilimike's comments--there are some blogs but a blog is not the same as a GP Message Board.

My post was on a thread asking for info on fishing charters out of Jaco. I took the time to write a nice explanation about the fishing I have done with friends with the company and that I had been out with this charter 4 different times for a total of 15 days. I only know boats out of Quepos so I posted a link to a website so they could take a look at the boat and see if it might work for them. I can understand not wanting to have links posted to non paying advertisers but I do not have a history of posting commercial links and if you want to remove a link to a non paying advertiser that is fine. Personally I would have sent the Charter company a copy of the post and a link to the thread and suggested that they look at advertising with CRT because of the amount of members that read the forum, but that is me.

If a thread gets abused, lock the thread don't delete it. Just because you have a change of heart does not mean it might not be helpful to others. If you posted it to begin with there must have been a good reason, If you change your mind you can always edit your post and put an disclaimer or update on it.

I can't find an entry in the log for such a post being deleted.

Are you really sure it was posted successfully? Did anyone else see this post?

Yes it was posted as I always copy my post before hitting the submit button as I usually get the Login message after hitting submit so I re-log back in and paste it then hit submit again and it takes me to the post where I reread it and make sure I did not leave out a word or punctuation.

I do not believe that the above is true. When the new owners took over, I believe that they changed the business model to be more successful. They went from making their money off of memberships to making their money off of advertisers. Just go to the membership list and see how many have recently signed up. Then, go to the advertising cost and do the math of what is coming in monthly. I believe the overwhelming money will be coming from the advertisers.

I am in marketing and they did exactly what I would have done. They have gotten themselves to the top of the Costa Rica Internet searches and are making money from people who have no interest whatsoever in the forum.

To think that they rely on a forum with maybe 20-30 active posters to make their bones is crazy. They might make more money by doing away with the forum. Too many times have their advertisers been either rightfully or wrongfully accused of something that would hurt the business' ability to get customers.

I believe that this board is a service to us and should be appreciated for the fun and information but also for the memories. I was the seventh member to sign up and I have gotten unbelievable enjoyment with this forum. I can go back to this safe place and then remember fun times of the past for no cost. Sound more than fair to me.

If we were all to agree that there are really only 20-30 active posters, most of whom contribute relatively useless content, then that would be irrefutable confirmation of just how far this forum has fallen. For the advertisers to have impact there must be an audience. If the site owners and admins themselves drive away that audience, which drives away content, which causes lower membership growth, or even negative membership growth, then what point is there in advertising? It's a death spiral. There's a number of sites that have been driven under by a fundamental lack of understanding as to who the board constituency is and what they want and why they come. BBC taking over Lonely Planet is another perfect example of this, for those who used either its travel info or traveler forum.

People don't come here to hear about why somebody thinks they're the greatest. We have Kanye for that. And people don't come here to be told hat they can and cannot say. Those who participate in this hobby by definition are trying to get away from that. even less do they want to be herded by a small group of special interest owners to a handful of sponsoring businesses. Of course it makes sense for the businesses, but it's the antithesis of monger membership.

I tried to change the subject line to indicate an early April arrival after my plans changed by weeks. I could not find a way to make the new dates obvious in the subject so I just deleted it without due consideration for the value of the replies.
