Zona II et. al. How does the process go? Do you have your fun there? Do I pay in usd or no? And what's an appropriate tip for the doorman at a chica-not-so-blatantly-friendly hotel, that would not offend him as I brought a girl in?
Thanks guys, this site is terrific!

Non-friendly hotels have 2 ways to keep the chicas out. Charge a way over-priced chica fee or not allow them at all. Tipping a doorman is not going to help you out.

How does the process go? You walk in, go up to a chica you like, and talk to her or simply say lets go and go to a room.

Do you have your fun there? At MP's, yes you can play in one of the on-site rooms. The fee includes the girl and the room. If you want something more than the standard (like bbbj), they may ask for a "tip" (extra).Do I pay in usd or no? Most places will accept either, but the Tico places usually only take local currency

And what's an appropriate tip for the doorman at a chica-not-so-blatantly-friendly hotel, that would not offend him as I brought a girl in? The appropriate tip for a doorman anywhere in Costa Rica is NOTHING! Leave the tip mentality in the US. You should tip a girl who shows you a good time, but don't go tipping every person who opens a door for you or hands you something.

Aha, okay cool. What should I expect to pay at the MPs? I only asked about the doorman because I booked a room at the Tuanis in Jaco because I read the doorman will let you bring a girl in if you're quiet(which I am), so I just wanted to be courteous.

Most of the (better, more popular) MPs here are in the c18ml to c30ml range ($36 to $60). But, you can find them from the really "low rent" places for c7500 ($15) to the very up scale places at c50000 + ($100 +).

All that said, in Jaco, as far as I know there are no MPs (May be a couple of very Tico places). All the chicas working in Jaco are independent and prices will vary. Seems (from what I hear) most are now asking $150 but most will comedown. Low seems to be around $80. Oh, and NEVER pay an independent up-front. If she insists --"NEXT"!!! Paying a chica upfront almost always assures you of a rushed, unenthusiastic, do nothing session.

Indies will accept either dollars or colonies. Zona2 is Gringo owned and will accept dollars (prices there are in dollars). All other mps here are Tico owned (except one other) and all prefer colones and if you pay in dollars expect to lose as much as 25% in the exchange. Except for your hotel bill, it is best to always use colones. In fact, unless you are quoted a price in dollars, always pay in colones.

In addition to the terrific, on-point advice given here, can I make a pitch for paid membership ("flying the flag")? It can save you serious money if staying with our Sponsor hotels, etc., even if it's only for one trip a year. There are both monetary and psychic benefits to supporting CRT. End of pitch.
