I think some may be under the impression that we are trying to make the employees whole on what they are owed. I needed to make it clear that this is a charitable fund raiser, not any kind of payback of lost wages or bonuses.

What Orange says is why the employees will be so very grateful for whatever we can do for them.

They were hurt A LOT more than we can provide for them....... through NO fault of their own.

There's no way that we can make them whole.

But we can HELP them. Please give what you can.

Let's also make clear that the points raised and questions asked were legit, not nay-sayers or ball-busters. Wise to be reminded that in these situations, it must be transparent and scrupulous (i's dotted, t's crossed). If I can make one request from the guys who are holding donations until I get there next weekend.... if you can give me the donation in colones, instead of USD. It will save me a trip to the bank.

Does anybody if there's a limit on how much the bank at the airport departure level will exchange? Would they exchange $1500? more?

Orange, the Bank of San Jose upstairs will exchange that amount for you, however, I don't see the need to exchange. The people we are donating to will be more than happy to accept good ole green backs. It will make it simpler for you and everyone giving money if it is done in dollars.

I've exchanged 5k USD at that window. It takes em time, but it's not an issue.

We haven't really talked about when and how to distribute the funds... we have a week and a half.

My thoughts were to do it Sunday late morning/mid-day. We can invite the people to a central location and distribute the envelopes. Or should be done more in a private one-to-one setting. I would not want to embarrass anybody or make them feel like a charity case.

Any other ideas/suggestions?

If anybody doesn't believer these people are hurting, take a look is written on the Scores building today. Someone even painted the door window, shooting the finger. Looks like we have a disgruntled employee. Can't blame them.

My suggestion is to give the money on Monday the 2nd, after to superbowl, right in front of Scores.

I like your thought of distributing the money Sunday - the earlier, the better. If the people are really hurting, one day does make a difference. How about having everyone go to Zona2 if Jimmy is agreeable to that? It could be a semi-private meeting there, better than out on the street, IMO.

Everyone might not be able to come in at the same time, and Sunday is a Holy day for many, and a family day for others.

Would it be possible to have sealed envelopes with each one named, and left with a specific location that can dispense them to the proper persons? This way the employees can come in when they are able to.

Jimmy is ok with it, so I will be at Zona II on Sunday (Feb 1st) from about 11am until probably mid-afternoon. I will contact the employees to come by. It should be low key, not some organized presentation. The less the better. And I prefer to do this indoors, not outside.

If any of the employees can't make it on Sunday, I will make myself available to them on Monday.
