I have come into town with no planned hotel a few times and on each occasion wished I didn't, from finging places I wanted having no rooms , to me trucking around town with my bags in tow.

You're not a newbie, so you know it's risky to show up without a hotel reservation. The best places ( SL, Zona 2, ScoreS, La Amistad ) are often full.

You might try the Mona Lisa. It's a big property with a lot of rooms. It might not be full.

Also, The Hemingway Inn is small, not as nice as a lot of gulch hotels, but it will probably have a room if you get stuck.

There are many others in the gulch. Come to town with a written list of venues from CRT for your taxista. But remember, a lot of taxistas can't find their way around the block.

With the exception of Halloween weekend which was full everywhere, you can probably find a last minute room at the Mona Lisa. Large property, convenient - contact Guy (the Manager), tell him you're from CRT as they have special member pricing.

I'm in town the same time - arrive Jan 8th.

Try the Dunn Inn. no chica fees and in the gulch.
Lots of negative reports about Mona Lisa. best avoid.

Mona Lisa does have standard rooms available at $39.00 per night, plus tax. I wouldn't wait.
