Quick question - flying into San Jose on Tuesday and staying at La Amistad - just booked a room in Jaco for December 31 because I heard it might be a little more social for New Years - my question is what is the best way to get from La Amistad to Jaco on the 31st and then back the 1st - any info is appreciated!

Rafael Angel Cubero Vargas works out of Sportsmen's. He is a licensed tourist driver. I know he is licensed as we were stopped on the way to Jaco by the tourist police and he had to show his paperwork.

He is dependable and a good guy. He drives a black 8 passenger van and will take you to Jaco and return you safely to the gulch. Price is $120 each way (65,000 colones).

He doesn't speak English but his 14 yr old son does. He is out of school so he might be with him.

We have 2 Bros here who might be your answer: PuraVidaTransport and Old Lucky Dogg. Read their ads or PM them especially if you anticipate company traveling with you.

Use the shuttle service from La Amistad. Used it earlier this year, I highly recommend it. Contact La Amistad for info.

Is Amistad running shuttles every day now? If so, that would be the best alternative.

Take the bus. You'll save 80-90% of the prices posted here.

In September I took the Amistad shuttle to & from the Cocal in Jaco. Since I was the only person going each time my shuttle was a red taxi both ways. Dropped me at the front door of the Cocal, picked me up 2 days later & returned me to the Amistad. I paid $30 since I wasn't doing the all-inclusive deal but still a hell of a deal for door-to-door service.

We can count on Matt to do the right thing for his guests at La Amistad.

But I like the adventure of the public bus from the Coca Cola Terminal to Jaco for about $5 each way.

I guess they are still running, I haven't heard of any news of discontinuing the service. But I could be wrong. Contact La Amistad
