My favorite website, the Pirate Bay, has relocated to Costa Rica. Authorities in Sweden raided them and shut them down but thanks to a forward thinking plan, they were ready with a backup hosted in CR.

With mirror sites all over the world, they'll NEVER completely shut the Bay down!

I have used ThePirateBay occasionally and have found it clean, quick and with a huge variety of material. For added security you might consider accessing using the Comodo Dragon browser (there's an Android version as well)--it's a Chrome browser re-mix with added security features and strips out some bushwa that Chrome has. For more and a safe download site: http://download.cnet.com/Comodo-Dragon/ ... torsreview
The current ultimate in security is TOR browser but that can slow things down considerably.
Bro Chilimike, I'll try yours as well--small but interesting selection of lossless music.

Great link Chili...KickAss has always been my #2 option. Seems I get hit with a lot more pop-up windows off there than Pirate Bay and that was my only deciding factor in my Pirate Bay preference. And good points from Jazz...torrents are NOT a good idea if you live in the U.S. unless you use a proxy, VPN service or TOR.

The Pirate Bay (dot) CR site has been steadily coming online. You can browse torrents and search but a lot of the functionality of the site hasn't been fixed yet. Sure it isn't an easy job getting such a site back up and running but I have faith. Until then, KickAss is my site!

Does anyone know where to find good quality PPV sports events on XBMC besides Mashup and Sportsdevil?

TOR is no longer a good alternative unless you know precisely where you are going and who controls the site. Clearly, Freedom Hosting is out of bounds.

I developed software for TOR for 6 years, and I shutdown all nodes and left after DOJ action. There are alternatives, but you need to search them out.

Stay off of TOR.

OK. My bad. Can you then suggest secure alternatives? VPN and proxy services were mentioned--can you suggest specifics?

ooppss...turns out Pirate Bay with the .cr address is an imposter. Looks good but doesn't act right. It is NOT the original :(

Spend some time searching for alternatives to TOR. The couple I use are invitation-only, and they use Restrictive-Pathing exit nodes.

The key to using TOR securely is to know your exit node. I operated my own through a specific proxy 'service' that sold access to compromised systems. They now operate their own TOR alternatives, known as TOR2 or eTOR. But they are pay services, and as they are built upon compromised systems, they tend to have regular interruptions in 'service'. I do not use them, and I suggest no one do.

There is another network called "ƒ(Ø)". Verbally it is known as "Function Null", or just "Null".

TOR *is* a VPN, and a VPN by itself offers 'security' with no 'anonymity'. A Proxy is the opposite.
