This past week, my wife had a flight on JB. Her DirectTV didn't work and she reported it to the flight attendant. Flight was full, so no other seats were available.

About 2 days later, she got an email apologizing for the inconvenience and adding $15 into her JetBlue Travel Bank. It's a tool they created to hold customer credits.

This is why I'm a loyal JB flier. It's not the money, but the fact that they realized that it was on them, and apologized. It differentiates them from the rest.

One of my Jetblue flights was delayed due to mechanical issues and I missed my shuttle in Orlando. Jetblue paid for a taxi all the way to my home, a $200+ value. Jetblue is awesome.

Before take-off, a jetBlue flight attendant asked me if I would change my seat to a "more leg room" seat so that a family with K*ds could sit together. I said "SURE."

Nothing was said about it at the time, but I later found a BIG slug of frequent-flier points added to my record because I volunteered to change my seat.

Unless they don't go where I'm going, I'll ALWAYS fly jetBlue.

i took my first trip on jet blue last month. booking the ticket was a bit more difficult than other airlines, but the flights were very comfortable and all you can eat/drink snacks were great.

Best US airline in my opinion.

Yup - +1 on all the positive comments - they do a great job!

(B/C we have traded pricing for service, the level of "service" and the nit picking charges on US airlines today is horrible - I've posted this before, but to me, you need a seat, and its likely you are going to have a piece of luggage to either check or carry on - to be charged for these items I find terrible; I will not even try to analogise it - in fairness, JetBlue will charge for some of the enhanced legroom seats, but their regular seats have more legroom than most other airlines)

I returned to FLL 04Feb14 on their flt 38. We sat on the tarmac 3 hrs because some people with connections in the NE, Philly I believe, decided to jump ship because of airport shutdowns and flight cancellations due to weather. Their baggage had to be offloaded, the passenger manifest redone, and a host of other logistical issues needed to be addressed. I found out afterward from a fellow passenger that if you complain they will accommodate/compensate you on a future flight, so if you speak up they'll listen. jetBlue has the best rates to SJO flying out of south Florida (FLL.) AA charges about 110U$D more, ea way, out of MIA. I'm looking forward to my DEC flt into SJO with jetBlue. BTW, for those of you looking at a 140U$D taxi fare into south Broward County FLL from southern Miami-Dade County, you can get a ride with Super Shuttle for about half that or just do a 24 hr one way car rental (Enterprise) into FLL for about 60U$D.

I don't know the criteria to classify an airline as "low-cost". If it is lower ticket prices, then JetBlue fits in that classification. But look at what you get for that low fare - leg room that is comparable to or more than most US airlines, free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, assigned seats at time of ticket purchase, one free checked bag and one free carry-on bag (Delta, American, and United all charge for a checked bag on domestic flights, only Delta offers one free checked bag on International flights). Until recently, JetBlue has had very good flight attendants. I don't need a first-class section when I fly, so JetBlue fits me well.

Please elaborate. Did you have a bad experience on a flight (MCO to SJO), or have you noticed a
general decline in service/attitude?

The last two flights from MCO to SJO have not been up to my expectations. Rachael was not working either flight. They made one pass through for drinks, and another one for snacks, then almost disappeared. On the second to last flight, they did not distribute customs forms until 20 minutes before we landed. Two of the flight attendants were sitting in the jump seats at the front of the cabin for at least 40 minutes before forms were distributed.

On the last flight, they announced that they were an Orlando based crew, but I had not seen any of them before. That was my 15th flight from MCO to SJO. Maybe they have hired new flight attendants, or transferred some from other areas. On both flights, they were all older, I'd say at least in their 40's.

Hopefully, their flight attendant service will improve, and it's not a permanent degradation.

There is nothing that specifically defines a "Low Cost" carrier, but the general business model of a "low cost" carrier is considered "obvious" to the other players in the air travel industry, especially the "Legacy" carriers.

"Low Cost" doesn't always mean cheaper, although it usually does. The low cost price model is usually very simple, with only a few (around 5) fare basis codes. Also, the low cost carriers do not usually drop or pull their fare basis codes to/from the market as much as the Legacy carriers do -- and the low cost carriers use a far simpler algorithm for distributing their fare basis codes.

In most cases, the low cost carriers use a fixed fare basis code release system that virtually guarantees the customer a certain fare for a large window of time preceding the target flight.

Low cost carriers have not, traditionally, participated in reciprocal carriage agreements with the Legacy carriers, although that situation has been fluctuating for the past couple of years.

--------------

International travel grants you certain rights and also hamstrings you in certain ways.

Travel to the Caribbean and Central America makes the waters even muddier.

Thanks for the explanation Srilm. I don't understand all the jargon, but I think I get the general idea.

The only problem with catching JetBlue from ORD to SJO is having to stay overnight in my connecting city going and coming
