At present this is an isolated incident, and there are NO CDC travel warnings about Ebola for destinations in North or Central America.

Also at present, the news media in Costa Rica is not passing on any specific advice from the Ministry of Health in Costa Rica. The news is talking only of the problem in Dallas, TX.

If we hear of any travel warnings or specific concerns related to Costa Rica, then we will pass it along in the forum. However, this problem is not affecting travel to Latin America, and wanted to pass the current news along before any concerns materialize.

Before anyone gets confused, the man in Dallas with Ebola came from Liberia (a country in Africa) NOT Liberia, Costa Rica. There are some funky diseases in Latin America but Ebola is NOT one of them...

If they do, they won't release it, maybe they figure this is natural selection at work. When it hits their back yard, they will "find" a cure.

No conspiracy. There is a treatment in the early stages of development showing great promise. IF there is a problem with it, it's that it comes from a GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) about which the Left gets hysterical. A bit more common sense all around on this volatile subject should prevail--let's hope it does:

Looks like no trips back to the States for me for awhile... until the "dust" has settled.

Ebola is just the tip of the iceberg...and probably the worst of our fears. Wait until this country wakes up to all of the diseases that will spread from all those illegals that our government has allowed crossing the border....and secretly deposited in communities all across this nation. Talk about multiple pandemics. The Spanish flu in 1918 killed 50 to 100 million people throughout the world. Of course we have much greater medical and drug capabilities now but the threat still exists.

This country is doing so little to limit diseases on travel from other countries....or illegals crossing the border. It will come back to haunt us in the much near future. Book it Dano.

As of this date, Ebola is only known to be in several west African countries and of course, the USA. many countries (many in Africa) have banned travel from these countries until this matter is addressed, but politically corrected USA does not, hence the camel's got it's nose in here but not in Europe as well as numerous other countries one might assume it would hit well before the USA.

Government officials "reassured" us that airline employees are watching for travelers with "symptoms". The individual in Dallas allegedly displayed no symptoms and then got sick after he was here. If you read his history, even if Ebola did not exist, he had no business coming here and his credentials grossly disqaulified him from coming here yet he got here nonetheless.

I have attempted to get a Costa Rica "girlfriend" rights to fly here and visit me for a weekend and in short, forget it, the rules are monstrously rigid, but this individual with no job, no money, no immediate family back home gets to come here without question or challenge.

G*d help us....

It's too easy to get into a full-blown panic attack. Please don't. At least 2 solid solutions are in final stages by the FDA AND Big Pharm. I feel truly sorry for those in affected African areas--they are members of the human community too--but can't find evidence that we have more to fear than the isolated case here. The NYTimes has some excellent coverage of this from all angles--won't bore you with links, but for those interested in helping quell others hysteria and settling their own minds, it's a grand place. Maybe Obama/the States don't like Hosers

They took my bottle of contac lens cleaner once, I opened it and poured it in my eye to prove it was safe and they still took it....also took a tiny knife (less than 1 inch!!!) I used to tighten the screws on my glasses. A normal pen is more dangerous than that knife... .
