it's not always the buyers option. I've never had a chica quote me in colones ... always dollars. I typically counter in colones, but some of the 'less than mathematically-gifted' chicas get confused by the switch.
Most of the traffic I see returning from the elevator in HDR carry USD right to the conversion window. They *must* know that cien translates to more than cincuenta mil!! But I suspect that most are only after those 5 bills, and if that is what they receive in the room, then they got what they wanted and are happy.
BUT: some are savvy! Don't disrespect a chica that wants a fair conversion rate.
I am curios. At what conversion rate (if any) do you consider yourself to be less than ethical.
I would say the 'ethical' part means giving the provider what they are expecting. There may be a disconnect between 'asked for' and 'expecting', in lieu of dollars vs colones vs euros, etc.
To whit: if I agree to $70 'Dollars', I will usually give her 40 mil ... the 35mil that equates to a 500:1 conversion, and the other 5 mil for conversion losses, a taxi fare, etc. Now, this matters not if the average daily rate is 530 or 500. I am comfortable with my side of the transaction. If the rate dips below 500, then I'll probably continue doing the same, because it's not worth ruining a session (or a potential re-session) arguing about crap like conversion rates.
Now this is my method, and some guys simply consider a 500:1 is a 'fair' exchange. If both parties feel it is so (meaning the provider is happy with the payment) then I personally do not see an 'ethical' dilemma or violation. It's when the provider expects more than the 500:1 that I think the guy should agree to (if the services was negotiated in dollars).
In all honesty, I think newbies should get comfortable with negotiation in colones, and pay in colones (which is what Hioctane and many others have suggested). It alleviates all this tit-for-tat stuff that brings down a vacation.
