the fact that the cab drivers cant understand written spanish and even after agreeing try and reneg rates at 2 in the morning

4. Condition of outlying streets and roads.

I can put up with rest, cause at least I'm there.

Until you've been to India, you guys have no clue what an aggressive, in your face, overbearing, "helllo my frrrriend, weh you frrrom?", won't-let-go beggar is. SJ is heaven compared to India in that regard. Helluva lot cleaner than any city in India, except perhaps for Pondicherry.

My top ten list:

1. The near sauna conditions riding the buses on a hot, rainy day when all the windows are closed.

2. Sardine city on the buses, EXCEPT when squeezing up against the back or front of a guapa in the aisles, or bumping butts when the bus takes a sharp turn. Yum!

3. Directions: people, get some damn addresses!

4. Loud, overbearing, disrespectful, ugly american gringos

5. Can we chip in and buy some street signs for downtown SJ?

6. Hustling store vendors. Your new best friend.

7. Icy cold shoulders from the rica chicas at the San Pedro Mall

8. I agree, bus exhaust.

9. Taxi drivers who speed up for gringos on the street

10. Cien at the DR
