Was at Mona Lisa September 9-12th, 1 or two ticas in the bar at night. Not the place for picking them up, but a great place to lay it down!! No room fee for ticas!!

Has the Mona Lisa recently put any new money in upgrading the joint? Guy G??

Doesn't look like it. I stayed there twice in the past month. The only reason is the cheap rate. Don't get me wrong, it's by no means unacceptable. But it has some deficiencies that need fixing, and would improve the place big time. Seems management isn't willing or just doesn't care. I reported an issue with the water not draining from my bathtub at checkout. Most hotels would say "We'll send somebody to fix that. Thanks for letting us know." I got what looked like a shoulder shrug and some mumble under her breath. It almost felt like she was annoyed that I found some fault with the hotel.

1. Both times, the safe was closed and inoperable (I think they have turned them off). The first time, I asked about it and they brought me a key, so it became a manual safe. The second time, I didn't even bother. There is a sign in reception regarding use of safes AT YOUR OWN RISK and something about guests and the hotel not being responsible. I think the alleged theft at the ML a few months ago really shook things up there as far as personal belongings go. Basically, I inferred that if you have guests, the hotel is advising you to keep an eye on your stuff and don't accuse them of theft later on.

2. The second time, the bathtub did not drain properly and when taking a shower, you were quickly in ankle-deep water. Personally, that grosses me out for some reason.

3. There are only about 4 working electrical outlets (and probably 2-3 non-working ones) in each room and half are used by fridge and tv. You have to unplug lamps to charge your phone or laptop.

4. In typical Choice Hotels fashion, there are no ceiling light fixtures. The room lighting is via lamps and wall light fixture by the bed. That's not a lot of light to begin with, and then having to unplug lamps to free up outlets makes it worse. I have noticed that the lighting in many SJ hotels is pretty dim. Helps in setting a mood with a chica, but not so great when looking for something small on the floor or under desk/bed.

I think Guy is the person to talk to about any problems with your room. I`m going to stay there Nov 10-20 for 10 nights . I checked out the rooms in June and I though they looked pretty good for the money, I don`t don't know what you guys want for $50. As for the girls hanging out there I don`t really know but I`m going to wife up so it shouldn`t be a problem . If it works out I will be staying there the month of February for $900.

I have stayed at ML three times and love it. Unlike Dunn Inn, which is basically a converted mansion, ML was built as a hotel. It has American style rooms, which are large and clean. Very importantly for me, it is quiet. While there are only a few girls that hang out there, it is chica friendly. The girls from the DR are delighted to go there.

I was at the ML October 9-13 & enjoyed my stay. The hotel is very quiet & laid back which I prefer. I noticed 4 or 5 different working chicas at the lobby bar in the evenings. They were pleasant & not pushy with 2 or 3 being attractive depending on the night. I talked with a couple of them but did not partake since I had made other arrangements. I personally would not use the room safe for securing a large amount of cash especially since the safe was not bolted down to anything. I used the casino safe for securing my cash & it was hassle free. The room was clean & comfortable. My visitors seemed to really like the hotel for some reason. I think it was because the room looked like an actual hotel room & not just a "stabbin cabin" if you know what I mean. No guest fees & they must check in at the front desk.

I actually like the ML and had a good time. Just don't use the safes in your room. If you stay here PLEASE use the casino safe for your own good. I understand that a lot of people like this place and have no problems at all on their trips. In my case, I had a situation that could have turned out pretty bad. I don't wanna run people off from staying there, but just be careful if you choose to use the safe in your room.
