I just booked mid October trip from Houston to SJO for $489 including tax. That's the lowest I've seen in years.

Thank you guys for your advice to wait until now to purchase my air fair. I almost got nervous a month or so ago and bought a ticket for $569 that would have required me to drive to Beaumont the night before and ride a bus back to IAH early in the morning.

Anybody else going to be in San Jose between October 14-19?

If you check you will find that there are several dates in Oct and Nov with the same price.
Take your pick.

I flew DFW-IAH-SJO for $417 all taxes on July 2-6 on United. I booked it on priceline , never saw anything close to that price on the United website. But they charge $25 for the FIRST checked bag each way, so counting 1 checked bag(carry on free and if the bins are full they will check it for free when you board the plane)

If you get he united explorer card you get a free checked bag....
Also you get 2 miles per dollar on plane tickets, priority boarding, priority check in
Also if you spend $1000 in 90 days get 30000 free miles ... Round trips from Newark are usually 35000 free miles, so it's almost like a free trip..
