Planning my first CR trip and read through almost all the posts couldn't find what I needed. Here's my question:

Can one rouse a early morning (dependable) taxi to the airport from the DR or Presidente?

Found great deal from Martinair but departs SJO back to Florida on a Saturday 6:30am. Seems kind of early for latin time? Departure from SJO on a Friday afternoon better? duh, and miss a Friday night... better for travel?

Your experience is priceless, appreciate the help...

You will have no problem getting a taxi @ that hour. You should count on leaving your hotel @ 4:30 am for a 6:30 am flight.

Morning flights are great if you don't want to sleep. I missed that early flight once and had to sit around and wait for another.

So, you think you are going to have a better time in Florida than in San jose on a Friday night? Not unless you already got a hottie lined up!

Does anyone enjoy this flight except to get back for business?

I hate the early flight but it sure makes my arrival time at home much more bearable. You will have no problem anywhere in San Jose getting a cab at 4:30am.

There are cabbies at DR at all hours of the morning. Trust me, I have used a few anywhere from midnite to 5 am (ouch!). If your hotel is away from the gulch, you might want to arrange it the day before, just to be safe.

Doesn't make the ride to the airport any better, however.

And bring an alarm clock,
I never got my wakeup call at the Pres. last time...
Always a cab at the Presidente for an airport run.

Paco, that has happened to me also. It was only once out of ten trips staying there. I always travel with an alarm clock. A battery operated one. I've been to the DR twice, and they have power outages as much as Latinoheat looks in the mirror!

YO Igotubabe:
Damn, you must have been a Sonny & Cher fan.

Anyway, Martinair at 6:30am sounds like you are headed to Orlando. On the plus side: you will be kissed by the taxi driver as his first fare; there will be no traffic to the airport; Customs and all the other bullshit at the airport is a breeze unless perhaps you are flying on monday (not bad though); you will miss the Orlando traffic rush. Bad part is the leaving hotel around 5am......I suggest one of 2 things. Don't go to bed the night before, just Phuck, drink, gamble and have your bags pre-packed so when you stagger in at 4:30am they can sign you out and also the chica hiding in your room. OR, the Circus approach, go to bed no later than 8pm and wake up at 2am, then go out and get a quickie or jack off in the room. Now you will feel satisfied and ready to depart.......I guess.

You can probably upgrade to Star Class for $60 on the early flight but it's not worth it unless you need more space for 3 hours and some better food at 8am..........Coffee or OJ and vodka is the prescribed breakfast (be sure to have at least 3 mini vodkas on your person.) The Dutch attendants are just plain homely so try and sleep if possible. Most important....ask at the check in counter if you can have a seat next to or just back of a crying baby.....it shows you are a sensitive person and they respect that........for what ever that is worth.

Have a nice trip.

I've been drinking vodka every day for 45 years and I have certainly never found it to be habit forming.

I am hoping that I get a plane seat behind a crying baby and if I am real lucky, adjacent to the lavoratory. Best seat for aromatherapy and dolby sound.
