The Heat beat them decisively last year, so Timmy and the Spurs were super motivated this year. And it showed.

I wouldn't say last years Heat win was decisive in any manner last year, a late comeback on Game 6 and a big three pointer by Allen saved the season and helped force a game seven.

The Spurs were motivated for the past 12 months to reach this point and made the Heat look silly on all levels four out of five games. I am not sure the Cavs that James was on were much worse than this bunch. The only major change for the Heat over last year was Miller and he was a bench role player.
Pat Riley and the Heat have not been able to develop talent, working new blood into the system. Wade, Haslem, Battier all look old and tired. They have no quickness at guard, no defensive force in the middle.
LeBron is now facing the Decision Part II. Looking at what he may come back to, I would not be surprised if he goes back home and plays with some younger talent.
Lebron is now 2-3 in the Finals, he may be compared to Peyton Manning, a guy who puts up great stats, wins a lot of games but has difficulty winning the title.

The Heat motto was not Threepeat but Retreat in 2014

the spurs are a great team and pops can be argued to be goat
the only people that were rooting for the heat live in florida
three selfish players decided to take their talents to miami and started bragging about how many championships they were going to win
lebron and the decision alone are reason enough to hate them
if not for that bounce and the 3 pointer last year it would have been one chip
but hey they got 2 out of 4 and now heat fans get to deal w the decision part 2
there is talk of lebron ending up w the lakers
if that happens i am officially done w basketball even though i'm pretty much there already
great player but i can't stand him
the spurs team is what is right about the game and i am so happy for that team and their fans

he's already talking about how he and his wife love LA. i'm not a hypocrite and he wouldn't choose the lakers anyway. he wants guaranteed wins and the lakers have too much work to do w an aging kobe occupying too much of the payroll.
he'll want to come to the clippers w paul and griffin. besides then he can make a big deal out of the whole savior for the team. i can see it already. he is like a corporation calculating his moves and it includes marketing himself in LA.
and i won't quit on the team PR i will quit on the NBA.
first they randomly decide paul can't go the lakers, then they take away sterlings team for something he said.
just wait. mebron will make this decision 2 and frankly idgaf.

so mebron opts out
now its expected that bosh and wade will as well so the self proclaimed "king" james can get a max contact extension
that should cost bosh and wade over 20 mil the next two years since thats all they are worth
then they can retool w love, paul, durant, westbrook and a few more star players and insure the clown prince his legacy
in other news heat fans are also claiming free agency with the clippers, spurs, bulls, mavs and thunder all looking like possible destinations

The aftermath from the next Pat Riley conversation with Lebron, Wade and Bosh.

still love your boy mebron?

After conducting meetings with three NBA teams interested in pursuing free-agent star LeBron James, his agent suggested to owners and executives present that a failure of Miami president Pat Riley to rapidly recruit a strong supporting cast could bring finalists back to meet with James himself next week, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Rich Paul, the agent for James, invited three teams – Cleveland, Dallas and Phoenix – to the offices of his Klutch Sports headquarters to listen to pitches.

The meetings took place on Wednesday and Thursday, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Phoenix met on Wednesday and Cavaliers officials met on Thursday with Paul. Houston Rockets officials spoke with Paul by phone, but were not granted a meeting and have moved on with their pursuit of Carmelo Anthony, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Some executives believe there's an opportunity because of a disconnect between James and his teammates, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Another executive attending the meeting flatly said, "I think it's a smokescreen."

Across the country in Los Angeles on Thursday, Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra came to meet with free agents about joining the Heat, sources told Yahoo Sports. They met with Los Angeles Lakers free-agent forward Pau Gasol on Thursday, sources said. Miami is still unsure how much it has to offer free agents because Bosh and Wade have yet to fully agree to lowered salaries upon opting out of their contracts.
James has maintained a desire to take a full max contract with a starting salary of $20.7 million, sources said. Wade and Bosh are still reluctant to take severe cuts in their contracts, sources told Yahoo Sports, creating a financial disconnect among the three.

"There's clearly a breakdown in communication between LeBron and [Wade and Bosh]," one executive who participated in the meetings over the past two days told Yahoo Sports. "[James is] giving Riley time to go get players for them but if that doesn't happen in the next few days … LeBron seems ready to explore the market."

For James, the hard part remains: Where would he go? That still makes teams dubious of this exercise as anything but a leverage power play out of James and a marketing exercise out of Paul's fledgling agency. The Suns are offering a chance to sign James and his friend Anthony together, but James would have to move rapidly to recruit the New York Knicks' star. Paul represents the Suns' talented point guard Eric Bledsoe, a restricted free agent. All of it remains, for now, a long shot.

Anthony is spending the weekend choosing between the Chicago Bulls, Rockets and a five-year, $129 million maximum extension with the New York Knicks.

The Cavaliers sold Paul in the meeting on a core of Kyrie Irving, Andrew Wiggins, Paul's client, Tristan Thompson, three first-round picks in 2015 and significant salary-cap space. For James, Cleveland would be a homecoming, the reversal of his infamous decision four years ago.

For now, James remains overseas on vacation with his family and Riley and Spoelstra remains in hot pursuit of a supporting cast through free agency and trades. As much as ever, the clock is ticking for the Miami Heat.

more daily drama from the queen

LeBron James' impatience with the Miami Heat's efforts to improve their roster has led to his agent courting new teams for the free agent, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski:
After conducting meetings with three NBA teams interested in pursuing free-agent star LeBron James, his agent suggested to owners and executives present that a failure of Miami president Pat Riley to rapidly recruit a strong supporting cast could bring finalists back to meet with James himself next week, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Cavs Thought They Were Close To A Deal With LeBron James, But Now It Looks Like The Tide Is Turning
Business Insider By Cork Gaines

On Thursday morning, two NBA insiders were saying that LeBron James was going to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Twenty-four hours later, there has yet to be an announcement and the latest rumors suggest that the tide is turning away from him signing with Cleveland.

While we still don't know for certain what James will do, if he does ultimately pick the Heat over the Cavs, this will be devastating for a Cleveland fan base that has gotten its hopes up over the last few days.

Here are the latest rumors:

The Cavaliers thought they were close to a done deal.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Cavs "believed they were on the cusp of a commitment" from James.

But then James left his basketball camp in Las Vegas and flew back to Miami with Dwyane Wade. The implication here is that Wade is making one last attempt to keep LeBron in South Beach, and it may be working.

For the last couple of days, the Cavs have been operating as if they were going to sign LeBron, clearing cap space and contacting potential free agents and trade targets to fill out a roster around James. According to the report, the Cavs were expecting a call from LeBron on Thursday, and it never came.

LeBron may be having second thoughts because of a scathing letter written by the owner of the Cavs four years ago.
Chris Broussard of ESPN.com writes that "one reason, if not the major reason," LeBron is taking so long to make a decision is the infamous letter penned by Cavs owner Dan Gilbert back in 2010 when James took his talents to South Beach.

"If it wasn't for that letter, this would've been done awhile ago," the source told Broussard.

In that letter, which remained on NBA.com until last week, Gilbert mocked James and called him a "coward."

Then there are rumors that may say something or nothing at all.
On Thursday, ESPN insider Chris Broussard was asked on SportsCenter what he thought the chances were of LeBron signing with the Cavs. He started the day at 75% and it eventually rose to 85%

Then he dropped this nugget on Twitter.

This is getting very interesting. Definitely not at 85 pct for Cavs anymore :)

— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 11, 2014 The Decision is expected soon.
James is expected to fly to the World Cup final this weekend (the match is on Sunday) and both the Heat and Cavs are expecting a decision before he leaves according to Wojnarowski.

Of course, the Cavs were expecting a decision yesterday also, and it never came.

In addition to crushing the hopes of the fans, if LeBron does not sign with the Cavs, he may have crushed the team as well. According to Wojnarowski, the Cavs were told to clear cap space to sign LeBron and they did, giving up a starting center and a 2016 lottery pick.

The Cavs may have a back-up plan, but that is a steep price to pay without a commitment from LeBron.

What we do know at this point is that nobody knows what LeBron is going to do and that may even include LeBron.
