I stayed at Mona Lisa last week. Walked up with CRT card and paid rate as advertised by Guy. No issues.
Good stay. If you are not happy with your room, tell them and they will change it. Staff was professional.

Looks like the hotel is being sold and changed to a gay hotel.

the last line indicates it will probably be business as usual w the exception of homophobes
"LET's OPEN THIS DOOR TOGETHER" - "WE ARE A STRAIGHT FRIENDLY COMPANY."

there are plenty of gay sex mongers all over the gulch and they stay in the same hotels most of crt does.
sounds like this hotel is in line for a major upgrade. should be fabulous! :D

Just joking, but seriously does that mean that a guest can pick up a tranny from the street and bring them back to their room? Trannies are not allowed in many mongering establishment in San Jose.

 Phuck off PR, you know i talk to everyone. i remember a few years back i think half the men staying in amistad were gay. not my fault guys have no gaydar.   its ok to open your eyes. one guy was involved in a gold caper and had written a book. he gave me a copy. he was staying there for months. i know some of you guys have to remember him.
in answer to Al i have no idea but i guess we will soon find out. could be very entertaining in a bizarre carnival sort of way.
whats next? gay rights parades?

The article says that they want a 4 or 5 star property, if that is the case they have got a lot of work to do and need to spend plenty of money. I have stayed there on two different occasions since they reopened and would give the place a 2.5 rating.
Given the amount of money needed to invest in the place and the type of crowd they are marketing to, I would guess that the new rates will start closer to $149 per night as opposed to $49 per night.
They are going to need to cater to more than the LGBT crowd as I doubt that there is enough business in that niche to sustain that many rooms in downtown San Jose.

you are thinking about the 'mongering' LGBT crowd. Remember Costa Rica's principal tourism dollar isn't the monger community. There is a lot of money in the LGBT group. They travel extensively, and they specifically target businesses sympathetic to their needs.

I doubt they'll permit the local 'T' group to work the bar, but they'll probably not block a guest from bringing one back to a room.

Unless it turns into a gay equivalent to what the old Zona Blue was, I'd consider staying there. I don't care if the neighbors are gay. As long as they return my respect.
