I just locked in our tickets to CR for our very first trip. I've done some reading in the newbie section, and promise to read a lot more in the coming days. I signed up for VIP just a bit ago as well.

We have a LOT to learn before we get down there. It would be great to make some new friends along the journey. While mongering will be a part of the trip (she's more of a horn dawg than most men!), we'd also like to check out some interesting tourist stuff too.

We're white, mid-40s, like to have fun, meet new people and hear their stories.

We only have airfare booked. We may do a timeshare trade out in San Jose just to have a base, but it's pretty low end, but the cost is really low.

Open to any and all ideas.

Thanks in advance!

M&G

Is say amistad... there always seems to be a gringo couple or two staying there that don't seem to mind the gulch...

Plus there's a swingers club across the street!

You will find everyone cool. Nobody will hassle you. U will feel most comfortable when you visit scores and sl.

Thank you Rover!

Hopefully we can talk some of the CRT regulars to hanging out for a bit, visiting, and perhaps showing us around a bit. We don't know what we don't know yet, but this forum is great reading.

Should I consider hiring a driver/guide for a couple of days? I have no idea of the costs. Open to ideas.

I'd consider renting a car with GPS. Much cheaper, more convenient, etc. But don't get screwed by letting them force you to get the insurance. You guys might like Jaco for the couple / monger mix. In San Jose, Amistad would be cool -some really nice amenities - food & drink & airport and Jaco transportation included last I heard... right by Sportsmen & the swinger bar - which is right across from Amistad as mentioned earlier. As you step outside Amistad, it's a yellow house, directly across the street, then to the right like 3 or 4 houses, just before you get to this small public parking lot.

The owners there (at Amistad), Matt and I forget the other guy's name - great guys who I'm sure will gladly show you around. I should see you guys down there - I'll be there for first part of your trip.

You should check out Bill's (SL owner) big 60th b-day bash:

https://costaricaticas.com/sportsmens-lo ... june-14th/

If you guys like to gamble, there's some casinos, and some have hold 'em if you're into that....and you can bet on sports at several places like SL, and I think Scores & Zona II. Not a bad way to pass some time - place a small bet, have some drinks, and people watch / flirt with chicas...

I should be able to point out some chica friends who are genuinely into girls if that helps.

Feel free to IM me for any ?'s.

I'll be stating at the Amistad June 12 - 20th. Perhaps I'll run into you.

If you do decide to rent a car, I can't say enough about Adobe. www.adobecar.com Long story short, they won't screw you over if you have a dent or ding when your return.

I've actually done a driving tour of CR and loved it. If I had to do it again, I'd plan where I want to go and just find a place to stay along the route. That way if you want to stay in one place longer, you're not obligated by reservations. We found some really nice hotels and inns, better and cheaper than where we booked at.

There will be two type of insurance the car rental places offer, basic and mucho expensive. I'd go with basic.

Thank you for the advice Mike. We will be there for a couple of days and then off to the country side. I will look at that rental for sure. I have not booked that. LA is our arrival and departure anchor so I plan to use their transportation options.

We are getting excited for sure!
