I know some guys who have stashed some high dollar stuff (legal stuff ) in the office at Scores and HLH ..... both visible and concealed in luggage .......with no problems.

I'm not into hotel hopping as well. All of the popular mongering places will be glad to give you a tour of their properties, giving you an idea of room size, quality and price. Starting with my second trip, stayed at DR on the first two, I toured Sportsmens, La Amistad, Dunn Inn, the old Hotel Little Havanna, and the Morazon all in a two day period. This gave me enough information, combined with the opinions of others on this board, to make future decisions. I also toured the reopened Mona Lisa, Hemmngway as well, I have not had the opportunity to tour the newly remodeled Scores and Zona II rooms, however it is on my to do list. Spend some time in the hotel lobby and restaurant areas well, it will give you an idea of the traffic and the service is at these places.
My only caveat to room switching is when I arrive in San Jose after midnight and I want some late night action, in this case I get a one night room at the Del Rey then move the next day. All of the hotels will let you leave your bags until the new room is available.

Or you could make a reservation, go to the HDR and find something, then take them to your hotel room - I don't think - with the exception of certain times of the year - like Halloweeen, and Superbowl - that its all that hard to get a place in SJ - but I'd never want to come down w/out a reservation
