I haven't checked in on this board for a while, though I used to post here on CR, Cali and Rio quite a bit. I don't recognize most of the membership now, but perhaps some of the charter members still check in from time to time. I've been married to a Brazilian girl since 2008, she's learned English, and we're happy. Like any marriage, there are challenges, but for me at least, it's been well worth it. I was always too bummed out after trips, only to be back in the muck of American women, counting the days until my next trip.

I wish everybody the best luck in the world, and may all of your mongering days be blissful. If you're a newbie, check out some of my posts here from the past. And although San Jose is great, check out Rio, Sao Paulo, Cali, and the Dominican Republic for a change. I had some amazing trips to those locales and met some terrific girls.

Take care!

Good to see you post again, JM. I'm still somewhat active on this board. I've been retired and living in Colombia since 2011 (and happily married to a paisa).

Glad for the Post, JM--your warmth and insight are sorely missed. Are you playing/writing/teaching to the great benefit of all around you? As a "play you off gesture", somebody here pointed me to http://www.music-discussion.com/ I found a second home there and suggest you give it a look.

Welcome back JM! Yeah, some of us 'old-timers' are still around :)

Jazz!
I remember your detailed TR's on Brasil, some of the best ever reports posted.
Between you and Ron Medellin and Safadino, you guys probably sold more plane tickets to the land of bunda than any ad campaign ever could.
Good to hear things are well with you and your girl.

JM,

Glad to hear all is great with you and a few of the other old timers here. I enjoy reading the board but hardly post. Settled back in with the wife and the mongering days are past. Oh, the memories though are superb.

Thanks to all for the memories and comraderie.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

Now that the Search Engine works again it's time to take another gander at your threads JM. You were one of the guys I always read during my grasshopper newbie days.

I just read this thread. I never considered Cali. I usually dont like to go places that are hot. But, this thread has got the wheels turning in my head. If I knew I could get a dependable guide, I would give it a shot.

You may want to reach out to "Parcero" on the board. The last I heard, Parcero was still in Cali renting out rooms in a shared apartment and giving monger tours of Cali. R/T flights from MDE to CLO are only COP$ 109,000 with Vivacolombia.
