Am I the only one surprised that the owners of the hotel haven't posted a reply here to either dispute the accusations or make it right with the guest?

Thanks for your posts guys. Unfortunately it turns out that it was $700 not $600 that was ripped. I cashed a lot of $ at the BCR in SJO so it was from Wed till Sat night before I went for more $ and noticed the rip. Also, changed rooms on Thursday due to the street side rooms being to loud to sleep.
I moved yesterday in with Crackerass. Nice apt. on the river in Guadalupe. A lot closer to the gulch than it sounds. Last night only 1455C for taxi from HDR. and can walk to Walmart.

A very nice apt. and is available for the next two months. PM if interested.

Seconded

Stayed at the Mona Lisa for Super Bowl the hotel was full. The safe could be taken out in your suit case and walk out the door. It was not bolted down. It had a key only left my key in room all week and the cleaning person but by my shaving kit ever day. Well I did like the place Guy was nice the owner is looking at selling the place and has a buyer so he will not post. But sorry that happened to any member. I will stay at SL next time if I can get a room.

The sound of the river sounds a hell of a lot better than the sounds of horns, trucks, and motorcycles at 2am!

That is a great apartment...many a fun day over there notably with Shawn4DR. Guess I'll plug his CRT Fantasy Nascar League too ;)

But seriously, if anyone wants to rent that place, definitely recommended and Seabee is a great guy to boot!

I hope Guy Grand lands a better position or the new owners (if this goes down) turns the place around. The property, the way it is now, truly sucks. BTW, I have heard a similar story about guests being ripped off at another Barrio Amon property, but my source has sworn me to secrecy, so all I can say is hide your shit as best you can anywhere in the Gulch and anywhere for that matter in the world!!!

I am truly sorry to hear about this incident as I am just back from a two week stay at the ML. I stayed in two different rooms and had various maintenance and housecleaning people in and out of both places without incident. That something like this has happened really makes me rethink how secure my valuables are in my room. I used to feel confident that my privacy would be respected but that no longer seems to be a valid presumption.

Those of you that have stayed there (and other places too) may have noticed that access to the guest rooms is unrestricted although there are cameras in the elevators and the stairwell. There should be some kind of visual record of whom was in the area at the time of the theft.

If you are the James Bond type you may be interested in concealable/wearable cams. Google them. They're available starting at about thirty or forty dollars and can be in the form of buttons, key chains, pens, alarm clocks, medallions, etc. Leave one in your room pointing at the safe. Otherwise, you should think about renting a safety deposit box at a local bank or trusting the staff at the front desk with your valuables...

I took note of the fact that someone mentioned a possible change of ownership at the Mona Lisa. It is my understanding that George, Guy, n Helmut are the current partners there. I hope the transitional process goes smoothly and that everybody benefits from what ever changes take place.

Where do you get this shit from? My suggestion would be to start hanging with a higher class of people.

And every time he posts it is: How dangerous it is here, How terrible (all) the people are, how dangerous the food is here, How dirty and scummy the people and the country are, How dangerous the streets are (hell according to him you are not safe even in your own home), How many bad things have happened to him while living here, How polluted the water and beaches are (some are I agree), How dishonest the people (all) are, How (every) female here will sale her body and at age 11 or 12, and how EVERY chica in the country looses her virginity to her father, brother, or a cousin. And finally, how totally disgusting everything about CR is!!!!

YET HE HAS "CHOOSEN" to live here for how long (at least he says he lives here--has anyone ever met him)?

Why would any rational person continue to live in a place even half as bad as he makes it out to be :?:  :? I have 20 years experience visiting and living here and I see and have experienced a totally different country from what he (continually) describes. No, it is not perfect, yes it has its problems, yes it has crime, yes it has poverty!! BUT name one place anywhere in the world that doesn't. In fact from what I understand the crime rate and poverty rate in many US cities is as high as or even higher than San Jose!!!

Costa Rica is after all a 3rd (2nd) world country. As Citizens of the USA, we are visiting here of OUR OWN FREE WILL. If you do not like how inferior the country is to the USA, then go some where else or stay in the States!!! I really think that Greengo and a few other expats here are only interested in scaring others from coming here so they can have it all to themselves!!!! JMHO

Greengo comes off as a classic narcissist/ masochist. No doubt a good mental health professional would have a field-day with him--get a paper or maybe even a book out of it. NOTE: I don't claim to be any paragon of stability myself. An outsider's opinion only.

Thieves come in all forms of life. The big problem here is that hotel did nothing about it and put the blame back on the op. A good hotel would at least try and help the customer figure out who stole it or least make u think they are trying to.this hotel could care less just my 2 cents

...while my thumb is entertaining my prostate--I got that right? Doable but it would make an ugly picture. Have a nice day.
