First, let me thank all of you for the amazing information on this board. Really great tips and vital information.

I will be making my first trip down to CR next week. We are spending 4 days in Puerto Viejo and 3 days at the end in San Jose. I say "we" because my wife is the one who picked the destination and booked the trip. After a brutal a Chicago Winter I told her to "book somewhere warm, I don't care where we go." Little did I know she was going to book a place that is so hospitable to my new hobby.

My plan for San Jose is to book a "Golf" outing during the day while she relaxes at the hotel spa. That will give me plenty of time to divert for a day trip to one of the many locations I've found I the board, but I would obviously welcome any advice on a good location for my little day trip from experienced travelers such as yourselves.

Alternatively, I will be in San Jose Friday and Saturday night. It would be idea to meet up with a fellow traveler the night before and head to Blue Marlin or one of the other "Casinos" to watch the UFC fights and do a little gambling, additional activities that she would pass on in favor for a quite night relaxing at the hotel. But would need a partner in crime to pull that one off. Any travelers in town the 21st or 22nd up for helping a brother out?

Either way, I have a feeling that my first trip down will not be my last and am already working on rounding up a group of like minded or at least trusted enough associates for a guys trip down to CR in the near future.
