Very interesting reading--thanks for posting. I was especially interested in link #3 about ways around Google Glass. However I mildly disagree with his Rule #2 (Don't Look Like a Dork). What's socially acceptable can and does change all the time, especially in the Western World--big for-instance is men wearing hats: before the breezy informality of the JFK Administration, men almost always wore hats or caps outside. That got stopped dead and now I'm the odd-man-out for doing so. Also as a defense to the killer air pollution many places especially China ( see Picture # 10 http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2013 ... ky/100449/ ), masking of all sorts will become more common outdoors. Indoors is a whole other thing natch--bank and store cameras insist on seeing your naked face.
This is a cop-out for sure but--I'm glad I'm so old I won't experience the end-point of any of this. Empathy for the younger folk, though.

Yeah...chilling! I don't like this "brave new world." All I can say, though... we did it to ourselves. For me, I shall remain a Luddite.

As soon as Amazon gets its drone delivery system down pat, they'll get right on that. Driverless cars are already near-perfected. DUI conviction numbers due to plummet soon after...

Testy, testy. Injecting a little levity into a fraught situation isn't the same as "...bullshit comedy posts..." especially as it (the original post) was buttressed further by subsequent posts. OK, so what conclusion did you draw from your links? New laws, vigilante action ala what happened in Heinlein's The Puppet Masters, something not thought of by others? Serious questions...and the Thread is back on track

Indulge me and allow one more bullshit post. What Jazzbo said except for the "buttressed" part which I googled and still don't know what it means.

No tengo plata mae

My guess is you will have a better chance of being mistaken for somebody else, then actually be singled out, unless your a terrorist, and most of them are on the government payroll already, so I think this whole thread needs more comedy

It means "shored up" or "reinforced". I was being my usual strictly-correct but notoriously self-indulgent self. For a better idea: the flying buttress allowed for much bigger, higher and stronger Gothic architecture: https://www.google.com/search?q=picture ... B700%3B900 << compare with me, the flying a**
Now Bro Rdmn295, as to my questions: Where do these concepts and realities take us? Not busting--serious questions

Thanks Jazz. I'm heading to the Del Rey now and see if there is any but buttressed to be had.

OP, truly sorry dude.....now you have a legit reason to bitch about a highjacked post.

Jazzbo and OFT,
Still, I apologize for the harshness of my post. I would never be that harsh in person. Please accept my apology and I am going to add an "edit" to that post.

Bro RoadMn295--Apology not necessary but accepted. I'm not a fan of hijacking either but note a difference between outright hijacking (a convo gets stolen away or diverted, and isn't brought back) and circular discussions ( other topics mentioned and explored, but then the convo returns to the main topic). So I apologize for being a burr under your saddle.
Dead right about any data (words, numbers, pictures) taking on a life of their own. Anytime anything is put on the Net or stored in digital form, it escapes the creator. You always have to think of the future and the grimmest possibility. And now there's this: http://msnvideo.msn.com/?channelindex=8 ... bffa0f66bd
