How long ago did you book Amistad?
1st week of nov
1st trip??
5th.... I love Matt and the amistad since I've stayed there in sept..... In my nov trip there wasn't any vacancies so I stayed at Castillo.... So I booked Super Bowl in person when I was down there to lock in the busy week

Just booked flights down for the game, didn't deal with Hotel yet but will get that sorted out seems like it might be hard to find a room in town - been trying to get my boys to pull the trigger for almost a month now

Jan 29th fly to SJO - have a little business in town and shopping at Walmart then the 30th or 31st go to Jaco - Wing had surgery can't fish but is down to party and have some chica s make nice nice and listen to his bitching so I'm up for finding guys to fish with when we are in Jaco/Suenos likely Sat - Tuesday or Wednesday. Depending on how it goes at the Cocal might want to hit SJO for a final night on the way out but for sure we'll be in Jaco for Superbowl.

Made some more calls and emails, everyone tells me the exact same story, their slip at Suenos is $1,000 per month all year, fuel is $4.65 for gas a few cents less for diesel they claim even at $1200 a day they are making a few hundred. I find this hard to believe as when we have used friends boats in past years, we are burning $400 to $500 in fuel (so about 100 gallons) and bait/ice.

I proposed to one capt that we pay $300 for the use boat and captain + fuel and ice - he didn't write me back (yet)

Personally I don't like running 50 miles to the "corner" which is where they call go to catch sailfish and marlin. I prefer to catch fish I can eat like Snapper or Grouper which can be had only a few miles off Jaco Beach. Or the 12 mile run across the bay for Roosterfish is also usually a good bet - we release them, but wow what a hard fighting fish - very fun to catch. Those trips have averaged about 100 gallons for a full day so thats about $465 + oil call it $500 even, ice, food, beer - call it $600 total / 3 or 4 guys is what we have paid in the past but again that's friends or friends of friends boats which doesn't seem to be panning out so far.

Suenos is like fishing disneyland and more than likely with a little effort we can bump into guys that need crew or will take an extra guy or two for a trip.

In for Super Bowl weekend - either Amistad or SL, that's the next task!

Arrive Fri 1/31 and leave Mon 2/3 (short trip)

Lets make a Super Bowl gathering out of this - what's the best bar to watch the game?

Just booked the trip. Arrive Thurs 1-30 and go home Tues 2-4. Good deal on Spirit from FLL, only $220 round trip, Jet Blue was $550. Usual haunts were full, Guy hooked me up at the Mona Lisa. My birthday is Saturday Feb. 1, already in contact with the favorita for a special night.
Going to scope out a few places to watch the game, may be the Lodge or Scores at this point.

Cool FLABuck, Welcome Aboard. I lived in Cutler Bay in Miami and Sarasota, SW FL. Good job on finding a place such short notice. I might be at Scores or on a fishing boat. We shall see.

If they get bad weather in the Tri-State area from about next Wednesday on, the airlines, airports and the FAA are going to be under some serious pressure not to cancel flights or shut down operations. Regular flights, charters and private planes as well since there volume will be up also. I used to load and unload cargo and believe me it is no fun when the weather sucks.
If it gets really bad same goes for Amtrak and the locally operated trains.weather
