https://www.facebook.com/balurestaurant ... tos_streamIt isn't fancy, but highly addictive. Opens 8:30 for bk, closes around 9 unless there's a crowd. Been there since the father opened it in the early 60's when it was still a dirt road from Quepos to the beach and they tell me it was the only biz of any kind in ManAntonio, catering as a grocery store/pulperia to the locals--who lived on land that is now all hotels and what not.
The Park wasn't dedicated until '72 when CR appropriated the land from a gringo who was putting up road blocks. The eldest son Memo now runs Balu. Hasn't changed much since the beginning judging by the foto's other then more modern cooking/cooling equipment--it's still a beach shack. Only place in MA actually right on the beach in the sand since his uncle's place, Mar Y Sombra, "closed"--another story. High tide comes right up to your feet.
If you just want to hang out on the beach and eat and drink at reasonable prices in a safe place and occasionally go for a surf walk or a swim, and come back and then do it again, perfect.
