people that knew about this deal said this was inevitable from the onset.
unless the place did balls to the wall business consistently.
rough location and a continuing stale economy don't help it either.
sorry to hear about the problems ongoing and hope ML can figure it out.
grab the buckets guys and start bailing water.

Maybe you can enlighten us. If it was an old lien, it should have been discharged by the bankruptcy proceeding. Any/all outstanding claims are resolved through a plan of reorganization (POR). The only obligations which survive the POR are those agreed to in the Plan.

I'm not familiar with CR's bankruptcy laws, but suspect that they track those here in the USA. Can can an old lien, which should have been discharged, be enforced today against the ML?

It could be a bogus lien used by a paid off government official to try and close the ML , but hey that would never happen in Costa Rica. This is why you don`t invest in a business in Costa Rica unless you have a good full time lawyer.

here, it is more beneficial to have good full time connection and then an attorney.

Wow ... I am glad the owner cleared that up before the rumor starters had a field day. Nice place, hope it will re-open soon with some reasonable drink prices for CRT.

Guess things are no different in CR than anywhere else including the USA and how someone elses irresponsibility (ie.. back taxes or liens) can affect the responsible. A crooked public or elected official, what a suprise. :roll:
