The article is ALSO not reporting credible facts concerning why ******* is temporarily out of CR. I personally think it is ABSOLUTE BS that someone can report on something but not have any accuracy.

DAN - Get your facts straight!!! I believe you should take any personal issues you have and make sure they dont encourage false reporting of factual information.

The bottom line is that an article was written - we could go on and on about this and that, but without proper facts being outlined, it distorts the outcome of the complete article. So in other words, I am only focusing on one point - the comments concerning *******.

I pointed that out--there was only the author's Dan Caro's word for it and he's in the same biz as ******* -- CR websites--so I cautioned the facts until further proof.

******** posted a statement I read somewhere. Said when he returned to CR recently, they stopped him at the passport control because they noticed he had overstayed his previous tourist visa. Gave him the runaround and a choice of self-deportation for a short time or go to an immigration hearing and risk a 5 year ban. He self deported and said he expects to return to CR perhaps in December. Know he is in MDE right now...

As an ex-pat, I made sure I got permanent residency and expect to turn that into full citizenship in the not too distant future. Had a great talk with a knowledgeable person about it yesterday at Zona2 and he convinced me that would be the best course of action. And you guys said there were no advantages to marrying a Tica.

If what he posted is true about being denied at the border for an overstay, Dan Caro's, who advertises a book about our hobby on this board, credibility just dropped to zero. If it is true ******* had a border snafu for a previous overstay, the really brutal way Caro described ******* and the circumstances cited for ******* left CR in the news article I posted in the OP this morning, guys on this board will possibly even sorry for *******? Probably not.

The truth remains to be seen.

I know and have as much disdain for this guy as anyone and know his history or alias' histories. But don't cheap shot me and color me as his defender just because I brought out that there was a dirth of "go to the bank" facts in your article about *******'s departure as opposed to the solid facts as to why Owen from Jaco got deported. Numerous media carried Owens eviction with hard facts as you did.

Now that I know you are DonCarlos, I'd give your version of how Jones left your country and your current post more weight.

In jonsies defense comparing him to and including him in an article containing Kirk Owen is not fair. Come Dec 7th the truth will become more clear. We should probably give this thread a rest and ******** the benefit of the doubt at least for now. IMHO

Pretty simple in my book, if he does not hold any type of residency status then he is guest in their country and is supposed to follow the guest rules. He may not like them or they may be rarely or selectively enforced but he is still in violation and is being held accountable.
Whether someone ratted him out or not is not an issue in my book. We may not like the rules but that is too bad, take your ball and go home. Selective enforcement occurs every where and is a fact of life.

Whatever your feeling about ********, IMHO his recent alleged transgressions are really not very significant to anyone but him, if at all.. I'm not a big fan of the piling on syndrome. I agree with Matt's position about a comparison Kirk Owen being over the top.

Here's *******'s version which I found on his CR/Colombia monger website which will go unnamed in fairness to CRT biz', my favorite board, and it was the first time I'd seen that board.

Sure enough ******* posted about Don Carlos' article bandied about above. I am leaving out his personal attacks on DonCarlos and his use of what is probably DonCarlos real name, but if you believe what he is saying, DonCarlos and ******* know each other quite well.

And I will add he says DonCarlos is Admin3 and moderator of this board.

Here's his version of why he left CR. His reputation for veracity on this board has been widely disputed over a long time regarding many issues, so I am not vouching for *******. I've read enuf of his inciteful posts under his various alias' and am aware of one of the scams to not think the world of him despite his high knowledge of the gulch. But here's his version in response to DonCarlos' article in the e-newspaper previously mentioned & on DonCarlos' CR monger oriented website.

At the same time, unknown to me, Dan (last name omitted by me but referring to DonCarlos) was calling immigration on a daily basis, sending them to my old apartment in the gulch with who knows what kind of complaint. I got the idea it would be a good idea to get current and do my visa run to the states. So I went to Florida to do my visa run. When I returned, I was informed that because of my overstaying my visa, I could voluntarily stay out of the country for double the time I was over, or I could enter, and attend an immigration hearing, where the least I would get was a warning, and the most I would get was a 5 year ban from Costa Rica. Obviously, I chose the 60 day option. I was given a document that listed December 7th as the earliest date of return. I signed it. But none of this is a secret: ". End quote.

I will add that at app 11:30am CR time yesterday, a guy posted which would be fair to say a post that was critical of DonCarlos' version of Immigration authorities out looking in a "manhunt" for 90 day violators, and a few minutes later, DonCarlos posted a rather detailed, 2-3 paragraph reply which was "go ask his neighbors, ask biz' around town". And then 10 minutes later, poof, both of those posts were gone without any explanation from an Admin as is par for a deleted post, including the names of the posters which heretofore always remained, it was like the posts never existed. I've never seen that before.

That add's a little credibility to what ******* is saying about what DonCarlos relationship is to the board.

If it's true DonCarlos is Admin3 and/or a moderator, that's perfectly fine, it's the board owner's biz decision, but he shouldn't be posting under DonCarlos. I thought Admin3 has identified himself as Alex.

Cutting to the chase, this ongoing pissing contest is not good for the board.

Agreed...isn`t this *******`s problem? What do most people who read this forum know about this issue?

My guess is "not much other than ******* & perhaps immigration officials in CR".....Seems like a lot of conjecture...IMHO
