whats the latest info on Vista Linda apartments? Still recommended? Was going between VL and Scotland.
VL being a good bit cheaper for a month.
Since I am planning some out of town trips while I am down, just cant see spending the extra for Scotland.
VL is further out correct?
Easy bus and taxi access to downtown? Cost? travel time?
Thanks for any input that comes in, all opinions welcome.

No place is perfect.

I have stayed at VL a few times for as long as 5 weeks. Many gringos have lived there full-time for years. I'll be there again for a week in December.

The VL bus runs often during the day and up until about 11 pm. The cost is about 45 cents each way. The ride takes 15-20 minutes, depending on the traffic. The last stop in the gulch is next to Auto Mercado. The bus is safe.

I often walk from VL into the gulch during the day. It takes me about 20-30 minutes. Taxis are available in the VL neighborhood during the busy times. Taxis will be scarce in that neighborhood late at night. Taxis in the gulch will be glad to take you to VL at any time.

Many of the girls know about VL, and are NOT reluctant to go there (either with you or to meet you at the VL gate).

You can GOOGLE the VL address on Google Maps to get an idea of where it is. VL is at THE DEAD END of Calle Cipres in the Calle Blancos barrio of San Jose.

Thanks Rac. I think I will do VL. $150 difference is a good bit. That is 3 or 4 MP sessions or more
And considering I won't be there everyday, can't see any real reason to pay the extra.
Do the rooms have ceiling fans?
Thanks again.

Like most apartments in CR, VL has no ceiling fans or A/C.

VL is kinda high on a hill, so there is almost always a breeze blowing. And, it is a 2-story complex.

Some of the apartments have more cross-ventilation than others.......some have virtually none. Some have kitchens of various sizes.....some have none.

The pictures on the VL web site are pretty accurate, but you should call Carlos, the long-time owner, to discuss your specific needs if you have any. He uses perfect English. He may not know which specific apartment will be available to you until close to your arrival date.
