If I were interested in finding a nice 2 bedroom apartment or condo to rent on a long- term basis ( by long-term I mean multi year, not months) specifically in the Barrio Amon district any suggestions where would be the best place to start looking? La Nacion? An agent of some sorts?

A lot of locals list on Craig's list, several agents use it also.

Stay away from craiglist unless you want to pay more than normal, the prices are inflated there most of the time.
La nacion classifieds are good, diario extra has classifieds, clasificados.cr, mercadolibre all are good choices but all are in spanish.

.

I contacted two CL advertisers in Barrio Amon who were offering rooms in the 300-$400 per month range. Both were adamant that no guests would be permitted, particularly "prostitutes."
