I am traveling into jaco in december and am traveling alone. How is the copacabana hotel stay for a week?

Copacabana has some advantages like clothing optional pools but the rooms are pretty small and rather expensive, at least the last time I stayed there. Two years ago I'd have recommended it but now, have to say Cocal is the better choice. Poseidon is another good option (http://www.hotel-poseidon.com/). It is not beachfront but does have a great restaurant.

Yep, I agree with everything that PVT has said, especially the grub at the Poseidon! We stayed at Copacabana for 3 nights about 2 years ago....pretty run down hotel IMHO....but the worst part was the threat of safety after hours...........the hotel is located right on the beach, very attractive location for sure, but at the time the beatle bar was the hot spot to be at at night...........but to get there from the hotel, it is a short 3 minute walk...to the main street......BUT, that street is extremely dark, not lit at all..........and the crooks know it..unfortunately a guy from another group of guys got rolled and beaten and robbed by cross dressers.......you feel like prey on that street.....of course, take a taxi, but you feel kind of foolish doing that since you are in the car for 10 seconds.....safety first! On my last trip, I checked out Cocal and will be back there. Great pool, good bar with nice chairs for drinking and hanging out, beach is only a few steps away....definitely the place to check out....on the fun side, dont miss the zip line tour at Vista los Suenos....call them and they provide round trip transportation for $5 - and also ATV adventures.....a 2 hour ride is great fun.....as around for Pachi - good dude, fun tour guide......you wont be sorry!!
