I'm very far from a techie, but it seemed to me that the board ran really well - I don't know what the new ownership "did" to make it run slower - or why they did so, if indeed they did so :? :? :? .

I worked with a guy long ago who always said greed was at the core of every problem, so maybe that came into play on the board.

I'd be curious what was done to change things, and why - maybe my friend was right :?: I don't know why any owner would put up with putting out a lesser product than before and frustrating the most loyal core of your base.

I'm not on as much as I was, but if their was an explanation, I missed it.

Now to Orange........in some ways we are very much alike; some like to post and have a talent for it, others not so much. You love to post (as do I) and while its frustrating, and inefficient, you don't want to stop posting :) :) :)

The main issue is the board seemed to run so seamlessly (although I'm sure Thomas might not agree   ) and now its just about unacceptably slow

As I read Oranges post, he does not want to leave the board (I really hope he does not), he is just joining the ever growing group of those fed up with its slowness.

I thought maybe it was my connection . The website has went downhill since they created the new and improved design . ( Only if this was true )

Orange,

Don't want to but I have to agree that it is just painful watching something that has brought such joy to the brethren degrade into what it has become. I believe, with time, that they may get it right but it is hard to stay around to watch and hope.

I will be taking my own advice in another thread and leave the board myself for 3-6 months. Would also appreciate any "good" news be sent to me via PM.

With this final post for now, I would like to apologize publicly to Gersen for a thoroughly embarrassing and wrong PM that I sent him. Not my best day. Sorry Gersen.

Thanks for all your postings and hope to see the both of us back in the coming months.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

Orange,

Please stay at least for a short time more. I think Bill is going to put considerable pressure on the Admins to get this fixed. :D :D :D Everyone, please give Bill encouragement and appreciation for getting involved in fixing this.

However, don't count on getting an email. The email notifications system of CRT is also broken. It used to be that when people responded to your posts on a topic or when you received a PM the CRT system would send you an email. That no longer works. I even tried going into the "Manage Subscriptions" area and checking on the topics I want to follow. It still did not work. It just removed my check marks on all of the topics.

These guys have messed this up so badly, the only reasonable solution may be to just go back to the old website software and implement better security. What we have now is FUBAR.

what a surprise it seems a LOT faster today. what the hell is going on and why does it take an insurrection to have the site at least maintained?
its like the site was taken over and the decision was made to chase off the community. truly bizarre.

I thought about it and it's not fair to the guys in the football pick 'em pool for me to drop out mid-season so I will continue running the pool and finish it. But that's the only thread I will read or post in. I will read PM's.

I've decided to move ahead with my plans for a new site. It won't be another CRT but will be a helpful resource for guys interested in or visiting Medellin. Will share the info when it's up and running.

Until then, I'm gonna sign off from CRT as well.

If anyone PMs me I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Maybe this time it is for real. Truth be told you have not added any value to the board for a very long time. We get it you like Colombia better. Come back when you add value - until than you should leave with grace and not spam your hidden agenda of marketing Colombia. As a sponsor and long time member of CRT I agree with Bill on this one -CRT has been good to me and my business.

So until then ADIOS Vince

Posts like yours, Mkink, are the reasons I am not much interested anymore. And of course the connection-posting problems drive us all nuts.

You asked to hear from sponsors, you just did, it is the truth, review Vince's past posts and then discuss on the board whether there is value to newbies providing information on Costa Rica ( the reason newbies visit the site right?). People complain about people hijacking a thread - how about hijacking a board? Myself and the other sponsors have talked to admin and they are making changes. Again, while not perfect - CRT has been good to me and my business. Sorry you do not like my response - but it is an open forum and you are entitled to not agree.

Mike, get that stick out of your ass and get real. You're a business owner in Costa Rica who is obviously butt hurt over the attention that Colombia and Medellin in particular has gotten on CRT. You see that as threatening to your business and you're trying to mad dog me away from your turf.

I'm not in the monger or gringo tourism biz. I'm retired military and have a content marketing and design business that I operate from wherever I am. I live in Medellin and like to help guys - that's my only stake in posting what I post. The site I'm setting will be for helping guys in Medellin and for sharing experiences and war stories. I'm not trying to steal food out of your baby's mouth so get the Phuck over it.

If you're angry at me for "hijacking the board" I guess you're more pissed at a lot of other guys. I sure as hell didn't start the Medellin threads that have become lately the most active and informative threads on CRT. I can't take credit for keeping this dying board alive, that goes to the other Medellin enthusiasts who helped me learn the ropes here when I was just a pup in Paisalandia.

Please stop the bullshit posturing and fist shaking. I'm not going to continue this urinary Olympics with you and yes I'm staying away from CRT until it regains some semblance of its former glory as a worthwhile community of good guys sharing info and entertaining each other. You can give yourself a big high-five or rub one out to your flaming posts at me or whatever, but I'll keep on keepin on helping guys and PROVIDING VALUE TO NEWBIES like I have.

Deje tu bobada por favor. Sigan en tu camino y lo hare en el mio.

First Vince it is MATT not Mike
Second Business is GOOD (full is full) - read the posts and yes I have a vested interest in CR.
Third thought you were not reading or posting anymore

Not mad dogging you - just posting the truth. Tired of people trying to hide behind posts to promote their own hidden agenda. I encourage everyone to review all your past posts and recognize it for what it is. And no Vince you do not add value to Costa Rica Board. Start a board for Colombia and I might advertise with you. Costa Rica is a great country to visit. Guess I am tired of people flaming CR who have not visited in years and continue to act as authorities. Next time I am at LL I will buy you a beer.

Matt, sorry I phucked up your name.

I always respond when people libel me, no matter what.

I don't write much about CR anymore, guilty as charged. But is still do. I posted some advice two or three days ago to a CR newb who was planning his trip and had a crazy itinerary. But if you have a beef over the interest in Colombia or the Medellin threads on this board, take it up with the owners and admins. You pay them, not me.

Yes I've made my preference for Medellin over the Gulch known. So have many others on this board. But I am not in the CR Sucks club. CR is a beautiful country. I'm maybe a member of the "mercenary Del Rey hookers suck club". But I've never ever said I don't like Costa Rica.

I appreciate the offer of a beer at LL. While you're at it, buy Hicotane a beer and the two of you can debate whether I'm trying to get CR guys to come to Medellin or keep them out. He thinks I'm trying to scare all the gringos away and keep Medallo all to myself.

Anyhoo, hope this all is just some latent frustration in combination with a bad day and it's nothing personal. I wish you the best and no hard feelings on my part. Have a shot of Centenario and some pu*sy, you'll feel better. :-)
