There is next to no return on investment for me anymore.
I think that I paid $79 for a lifetime membership when the site first started. With discounts, have been paid back many, many times. With entertainment for a lifetime (10 + years now), my investment is priceless. We have seen disruptions in the forum before but not based on change of ownership. Many left in the past for different reasons.
IMHO, if you are not a member, your return on investment infinity as you have no money or skin in the game. IMHO, if you are a lifetime member, you got the deal of the century as, knock on word, you will be able to retrieve memories of the past by simply reading youR old postings and looking at the pictures. One picture is worth a thousand words or, perhaps, memories.
However, those who become yearly members are not being served well at all UNLESS they use the card for discounts Only and could not care less about a forum. To them, it is about the money.
ID would be a good one to ask this. Think about the business model here. How many memberships would they need to pay all the bills including return on investment and income? I believe that they absolutely need the advertisers first and the forum a far second, if at all. Seems like a reasonable business man would concentrate on the first item to set the foundation of the second. Seems proof of this would be selling of membership cards as discount cards in San Jose.
For me, I am content. I hope to live the next 30 years or so always being able to access memories and do not have to pay another dollar. Life has its up and downs and I can handle this little down until the tide turns positive for the board as it has in the past.
Just my thoughts.
Have a Great Day,
Dave
