Went twice to CR. First time in 2005, when i found heaven by accident. Second time in 2007. Waited a long time for my third trip. Finally have some time. Booked two rooms for me and a friend...2 Deluxe rooms with balcony for 120 plus tax per room. Going september. Short trip. Might as well stay at the center. I dont even want to waste 10 minutes.

Hows the action? Numbers of girls coming still strong? How late does the poker game go? Is there still talent at 5 am if thats when the game ends? How much does the vitamin v costing these days?

Found this site tonight researching updates. Awesome site. Any info would be appreciated. I plan on having a great time playing POKEr... Cards and well... You know.

Agree 100%

There is, to me at least, a "rite of passage" - starts when a guy decides to go to CR, and as its the most famous place, goes to and hangs out at the HDR - sure, he may go to Sportsmans, visit Hotel Little Havana, as well as that "other" MP across the street, but his main focus is the Del Rey.

While some folks (some friends of mine in particular come to mind  ) never progress past this stage, some do - whether b/c they talked to some knowledgable guys, took a tour, or just were good with a map and got lucky, they end up discovering a whole new side of San Jose and end up with a ton more options.

I learned more on a walking tour (with Bangbang57) 6+ years ago when he was still doing them than I could have imagined - and while he does not do them on a regular basis you could PM him to ask, as well as Bilko, Puravida Transport, and I'm not sure if he's doing them anymore for health reasons - Pops. Maybe someone knows others and can add to the list.

Well worth your time and the small amount charged - also, while I know some guys love the HDR, I maintain you tend to meet more experienced guys at places like Sportsmans, Hotel Little Havana, La Amestad.

To the OP - if you can change your reservations, consider one of the hotels just mentioned above, especially the Sportsmans (its "Green Season" so you stand a good chance of getting a room) - will give you a better experience and perspective - Plus, you are well w/in walking distance of the HDR, although if you stay at Sportsmans, you might find enough company to keep you occupied

Dont want to really hit SL. I am on vacation. I know some of you get upset really fast if everyone doesnt conform to the group thinking... But pura vida for me is all about relaxing! Going with the flow. I dont mind spending a little extra on the 11 dollar chica fee. It means i dont have to cab it at night. I dont have to worry about my safety. I dont want to be penny wise and a dollar short.

I dont mind paying cien if i have too, but thats only for pre negotiated excellent service with all the toppings. I could care less for the recommendations here that insist on passing primo steak just because they ask for a little more. Thats dumb. You get what you pay for. I learned that on my second trip. Being there only four days means i dont have time for the hunt. For some of you, it sounds like the hunt is more fun than the actual main course. To each his own.

I want to spend my time drinking my ass off and gambling with my friends when i am not nutting it three times a day. :D

I dont mean to be offensive to anyone here... But i am probably going to end up doing that. Dont judge what others pay. Some of us are not as good looking as you. But a 35 year old man like myself has lots of dough and not enough pu*sy. I will be that cien mother if i have to be.

I will post a short trip report in this thread about the Del Rey and the poker scene when I come back next month.

Fees for the exact services received.
Poker times that people show up and leave as well as the pot sizes and type of players I encounter.

All this if my mind isn't just jello by the time I get back.

Hochaser,
I respect your opinion and I look forward to your trip report. Times change. 2007 is a long time ago. DR has changed and so has San Jose. I recommend you treat this trip as your first. That is how much it has changed since 2007. By limiting yourself to DR only you WILL miss out on some of the hottest Chica's and Gambling. DR is fine as a homebase, but I cant imagine not hitting the other spots as well. SL/HLH/Mona Lisa/New Fantasy/Colonial/Amistad and other places are less than a 10 minute walk from DR. I agree w/you about pricing. Pay what you are comfortable with....

Spot on here...The Delrey of 2013 is a far far cry from the "heaven" of 2005. This is not "groupthink" this is reality. Spend some time reading recent Delrey reports and you will see. The belly of the beast is a shadow of its former self.

Thanks guys,

I will definitely hit the other places during the daytime. After going through this site, it would be a shame not to hit the places you guys mentioned. I have hit hlh when it was ZB before. My best session was here in a threesome. I want to hit 360 as well. Will visit SL to check out their facilities for possible future stays. Reading good things about la amistad as well. Will explore in the afternoon. I want to make this a yearly trip in the future. Can't wait for mid September.

One of the main issues with the Rey is the lack of personal touch by those running the place, there is no Bill, Matt, Guy or Jeff that pays attention to this site. The four people I just mentioned are all highly involved and responsive to our needs and desires, they try to accommodate us the best they can. They know that we are an outspoken, loyal group of customers that bring a lot of business to the area.
