Both of the only advertised on this board cigar vendors owe it us to post what was the outocme of the CR's version of the FBI, there called OIJ, raid on both of your shops for foney cigars last month widely reported on all the papers--did you get your cigars returned?

There is a presumption, fair or not, that you are selling fakes? The CR govt thought so.

Did you get your stock that they confiscated from you returned to you because they made a mistake?

I believe that the gov't. raids were NOT done because the gov't. thought that the shops were dealing in fakes.

I think that the gov.t. was motivated by other reasons......but the experts will tell us more about wassup.

And what possible other reasons were those?

I seriously doubt a businessman in CR is going to engage with you on Business 101 in CR on any forum or in person for that matter.

I am certainly NOT an all-knowing expert on anything...especially cigars. But I DO know how to read pretty well. And my memory is almost intact.

I believe that I read some publicly available information that said that the raids on the cigar shops were connected to a lawsuit and a court order having to do with a distributor's relationships with its customers......maybe something about an "exclusive distributorship."

WiseAsh doesn't deal in fakes. His reputation is too important to himself. Any assumption or insinuation about fakes should be directed to the dudes outside of the Rey.

WiseAsh is the expert on this subject. He'll soon let us know as much as he can.

And fakes, or not authentic.

There's only 1 authorized by Cuba distributor in SJ. Was it confused as to who its clients were and smart enough to con the government to go and get the cigars? There are how many cigar retailers in CR that sell advertised high end cubanos? 5? 10?

I'm sure there is a good excuse behind all this for him and the other that advertises here--is it 9N?

There was an inspection of a large amount of cigar stores throughout the country awhile back.

The CR Government did come to 9N Escazu and 9N Los Suenos. They reviewed inventory just like the CR Government periodically visits bars (including 9N) in the country to review Liquor inventory. We have two very high end, high profile locations and thus were obviously on their list to inspect.

We purchase all of our Cuban Cigar inventory via the Authorized Agent for Habanos S.A. here in Costa Rica, and thus guarantee that all of our Cuban Product is Authentic, Original, Licensed, and Taxed. Even today, we have a full inventory in both of our stores of both Cuban and Non-Cuban Cigars. We also carry various other Non-Cuban Cigar Brands like Alec Bradley, Fuente Fuente, OpusX, Padron, etc and all are also Authetic, Original, Licensed and Imported Legally with Taxes Paid. We are registered in Costa Rica as Grandes Contribuyentes with Hacienda due to the importation of tobacco products.

Hopefully this helps to satisfy any of your questions and concerns.

To get the thread back to the original topic:

I've been coming to CR for years, been to ZB/HLH and now Zona II many times, but had never ventured inside The Havana Room, WiseAsh's establishment co-located with ZII.

I recently started enjoying a fine cigar every now and then. I blame PR and BP for this - thanks guys... :D

So anyway yesterday I rang WiseAsh's doorbell.

I am a complete rookie when it comes to cigars, but I can tell when someone has put in a lot of care and attention to detail to their business. The Havana Room is a comfortable and well-ventiladed place to smoke, have a conversation, watch TV, drink coffee, and of course browse the hundreds (thousands?) of fine Cuban cigars on display inside the humidor room.

I sat with WiseAsh and Scuba1 for a while before I ventured into Zona II for some entertainment. Great to catch up with Scuba1 and discuss the various definitions of "tica".

WiseAsh was very friendly and full of good advice for this rookie. Based on my parameters he recommended a few cigars. I already smoked one last night - fantastic. I'll be buying a few more of those to take back home.

This ciga-rook will be returning to The Havana Room. You can't go wrong when you can have a fine Cuban AND a fine piece of ass under the same roof.

MH, great to see you too and I'm glad you are back smoking cigars :) :) :)

PS to the literal out there, he's kidding about us discussing the use of the word "Tica" but will admit we could have!

Just thought I would chime in and say "hola" since I started the post a year ago!! Have been down 3 times since September. I don't smoke, but poked my head in to say hi to wise ash (and Kayla) on each trip. Can't wait to see new zona2

Peace and love. I post very little, but I sure enjoy reading all the posts I can once a month. I am planning on another trip in March. I will do the "hoody who" signal when I arrive....

Is 9*N still in biz? And still a Sponsor? Their Website shows an ad for the SB last year--makes you wonder.

Having our website changed and updated now. Thanks for pointing that out.

We are still very much in business, and doing great. Come by for a free drink when you mention CRT.

We are also having our annual Superbowl Party this year! Check out our flyer below:

Not pimpin' the place 'cuz I've never been and don't know the owners but--Looks like a good place to take a Favorita who's in the hospitality biz, on Mondays--her comfort zone and yours too. Maybe a nice place away from the madding crowd on 2 Feb.?
