I guess the reason they could not raid the HLH bar & massage area is that "NOTHING" was going on. Thats the same that I saw happening the last time I was in HLH - NOTHING! :P All but two of the chicas in the place were doing just what they do most of every day - texting on their cellphones. Only two gordita chicas hanging out in the bar. The eight to ten other chicas had no interest in anything but their cellphones. Six guys in the bar area and no chicas with them at all.

Is that you Boyd????

That's quite a broad statement. The place sucks cause you did a drive-by visit? I have been in the bar when it looked just as you said. BUT the girls were all in sessions so it looked dead when it wasn't.

FYI...I have no interest in HLH other than being a customer of the bar and of Wiseash's cigar lounge. What you stated is so inaccurate to the reality of HLH. I live here full time so I see the entire picture, not just a moment in time. Overall the talent is solid with a few new additions looking good. Sure it could be better, but the same can be said of all sites in the gulch..

Criticism and an exchange of info is what makes CRT great. BUT, we should be accurate in what we say about any establishment. Our comments impact people's decisions on where to go and spend $$$.

Back on topic: I am a long time cigar smoker and I can assure you Wiseash sells only legitimate, Cuban cigars..always. It's sad when a legit business gets caught in the crap that others are creating. Hope Wiseash recovers soon and also gets the legal justice he deserves.

Pura Vida

I am not a stogie guy, but I would think the experienced guys who know the real McCoy, taste and texture and smell, and burn or however otherwise would be able to determine a fake. No? Because if they can't, what's the sense in buying the real ones?

Wiseash says he buys his from the Cuban govt licensed distributor. No doubt. So a shitty pich if OIJ confiscated those. Doesn't the Cuban or local distributor put some sort of decal or something on the box or the stick or if so, that part can be a fake too?

A friend told me there's alot of fakes in Cuba too. So how's a fella to know?

I enjoy the cigars I buy from WiseAsh and I have no doubts that the Cubans are NOT fake. If they are, then the same cigars I have bought in London, Dublin, Paris, Munich, Geneva and other places around the world are also fake. WiseAsh is a legit business man who would not risk his reputation for a few bucks. Also, I am tired of people taking cheap shots at HLH. I have stayed there on 5 occassions during the past 12 months and have had nothing but great experiences. If you don't like the girls there, find one somewhere else and bring them back. If you are a CRT member there is no charge. Don't listen to the naysayers. There still pissed because they cannot get a 500 colones beer any more.

I was in HLH when the raid happened. It was definitely contained to the front mostly. I sat at the bar with my Colombian friend and had beers and shots with some guy from Argentina for his birthday. So anyone worried about the girls can relax. They will be there when you get back...... heh heh heh......

The "fake cuban cigar" business is a multi-million dollar operation. There are even fakes sold in Cuba (not the top quality tobacco). They create perfect replicas of the boxes, seals, and other ways to identify the real deal. Cigar specialists like Wiseash can detect a fake right away. But far too many people have pissed away their money on fakes.

There is only ONE way to ensure you get the real deal: only buy from retailers that have an official license with number to sell. Otherwise, it's a crap shoot with a 95% chance of being fake.

I spotted two fakes today. A girl walked in and I could tell by looking and feeling, they were fakes.

You can get good fakes in Cuba no problem, with all the correct stickers and serial numbers. Last time I was in Havana I got a box of Montecristo #4's for 30 cucs. They were decent but definitely not the right cigar. All you need to know is someone a little higher up at the factory and you're set they will have all kinds of boxes you can buy for a fraction of the price. At the end of the day I never had a Habano I liked that I didn't buy myself in Casa del Habano in Cuba. I think plenty of the cigars from the authorized dealers are fakes, a lot of people say the fake business is bigger than the legit one and anyone who knows Cuba knows honesty is hard to come by. No offense to HLH and their cigar room, it's just how I feel about Habanos I have purchased outside of Cuba.

I don't want to hijack this thread but we are business as usual, all of our current Habanos inventory in all of our stores is licensed via Cruz Canela (the Official Distributor of Habanos SA here in Costa Rica).
