this board is my only lifeline to the experiences I had ... I am missing aspects of the trip ... but as I focus on the minutiae, I see there is much time spent that means little to me. It's the lost opportunities and hopeful potentials that I am dwelling on. Like the feeling you get when you first step into an MP ... not knowing what talent awaits, or whether your specific target will be available. It's a game ... a hunt. So now I've hung up the rifle and returned to my reality ... and I am really feeling the loss.

thats why everyone says to go ahead and plan your next trip before the first is over. makes it easier knowing you have a countdown.

Yeah, the withdrawal from first to second trip is pretty bad, but then as the novelty of it wears off, it gets easier.

But in some cases, going back and reading about the fun you just had can depress you even more, depending on how much or how hard you partied like a rock star.

I almost had deja-vu reading this post. This is EXACTLY how I felt over six years ago. Guess what? I want "all-in" in poker terms. I sold my home, moved my belongings to storage, changed careers (which required that I quit my job), and moved to Costa Rica. Six years later, and I am still here. I am the same person. However, I have changed my habits. I no longer spend any time in the gulch. Why? Well... I found a woman. We are married and have two Ch*ldren. I know a lot of guys here don't want to deal with dating a tica (not for hire) or having a family in Costa Rica. But, I'm certain there are more guys out there like me. My first advice is deal with your issues in the US, before spending a ton more time or living in CR. You got a problem, you move here, it will get worse. My problem was depression and anxiety and the need to get laid. The last problem is really easy to solve in CR, but the first two problems can get worse. Down a search on my handle and you will see the history of my experience in Costa Rica. The CR hangover sucks. Moving here is like fixing the hangover with a new drug, that you will find is more problematic. You will need to escape the trap of hanging in the gulch everyday. There is no problem with going to the gulch on a regular basis, but when you are a regular fixture, it can lead to problems.

Cr hangover, oy vey ... Checking the CRT site twice a day, looking at your pictures of your favorita(s), going on line to look at flights and costs, trying to hook up a wing checking hotel avails. All such delicious dilemmas. But shit, it's fun just planning, anticipating, and dreaming... Ok first night I do this, second day I do that, third day a three some.

Sounds like what I do to survive CRT hangover/withdrawal pains.

This hobby is indeed addictive. You get a huge dopamine rush from hooking up with new beautiful females. It is like crack.

One way I have found to help deal with the withdrawl/hangover of missing CRT is getting together locally with fellow CRT members that live close and hang out , especially when the ,members involved become your wingman when you're down in SJO, just because uyou guys hang out together back home, etc.

Just another idea of something to help if you're lucky enough to have other members that live close and you guys feel like hooking up and hitting clubs and other spots around.

Chi ... you get it exactly. My US life is depressing ... fresh divorce, no dating, lost most friends over the years. Coming back to it felt like a prison term just starting. The only thing that makes life livable right now is my K*D. Without that connection, I would uproot and never come back.
Anywayz, I met a real estate chica while I was there, and intend to begin a normal relationship with her to see where that goes. It gives me a bone-fide reason to make long weekend trips, and keeps me in the game down there as well.
I absolutely loved the trip. I walked that entire downtown area, visited at least 20 MPs, f*cked the hell out of quite a few ladies, met some really great monger-brothers, and had the best time of my life.
I am working on a TR and hope to finish it by Friday.
