Costa Rican nationals are entitled to a 50% discount on flights within the country. The travel desk at the Del Rey once told me that this no longer applied. I paid the regular price for my Tica. On my next trip I used the travel agency at the Holiday Inn. They told me that it did apply, and booked my lady's ticket at the discounted price. Note that many of the DR girls are not nationals; this is only for Ticas. I've always had great service from the DR travel desk, but I suspect that since they work on a 10% commission (roughly), that its hardly worth their time to book too many discounted tickets. This will save you around $50 round trip from Quepos, and as much as $90 to some other destinations.
Another small note, if you are staying downtown: The Pavas airport (using NatureAir) is more convenient than going out to Juan Santamaria (Sansa).
