Not sure if this is the right forum but I will give it a try !

For the last 2 weeks my Skype account will not work. I cannot sign in. I get a message saying "cannot connect ". The computer is working fine and only Skype will not work.
This is a desk top running Windows Vista home edition and explorer 8.
Any one know what to do ? Not finding much help from Skype forums.

You might want to open a new, fresh, free Skype account as a test to see what happens.

I used Skype to SJ on my Apple a couple of days ago. Hers is a Windows PC. No problem then.

If you have a third party firewall (like McAfee) try disabling it and then restart SKYPE.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried them both and it still does not work.

I have an IPad and Skype works fine on that. Since Windows Vista is an unstable program and all others applications are working I am going to just ignore skype on this desktop for now.
I thought of doing a "system restore" but have decided to let sleeping dogs lie for now.

Here is something I found on the internet. It looks like in the end the user had to change his browser, but maybe one of the other steps will work for you.

Thanks all for the advice.
I uninstalled Skype and installed the latest updated version and then got a new account set up and tried to sign in. It sat there for a while then came up with the same old message "cannot connect". So I still have the same problem.
All other applications work so I am not going to try disabling the norton anti virus program and fool around with the registry or do any thing else for now.
