They dropped them in mid-May due to "lack of interest". The $800 fare might have had something to do with that.

I'm flying business class on LACSA from SJO to Toronto for first time, so will be interested to see level of service.
It's ok, they don't do anything special that any other airline doesn't provide in biz. The food is a little better and you get more personal service. One FA for 12 seats, instead of 2 for 138 seats. The seats are bigger too. In the new A3xx's and the new Embraers, each person (biz + coach) has a personal screen.

disagree about taca/lacsa not doing anything special.
they don't charge baggage fees for one.
they don't charge for a meal and drinks. they usually bring the drink cart around 3 times in a 6 hour flight from LA. and if you still want more they give it to you provided you behave.
they have been late one time by about twenty minutes in the countless times i have flown them. usually they are early.
maybe its the route being pretty uneventful but the pilots seem to always find a smooth route down and back.
friendly people working for them even if they can be lame at their headquarters and customer service level.

btw anyone out of LA it appears delta has a direct nonstop flight in and out of SJO for 550.

I agree that for Econo class, their level of service is great. But I think he was asking about biz class. Taca offers nothing more than any other biz that I have flown. That's what I meant, sorry for the confusion.

I've flown LACSA a couple of times & found the level of service is good. I usually fly Delta, but LACSA now has nonstop flights from Toronto to SJO, so I may considering switching.

I always fly Lacsa from T.O. Only a 45 minute stopover in San Salvador. Couple of times I got a flight for $400 return. I will never fly Air Canada.

cheers,
Attila

Only thing I'm not crazy about is the 4 pm arrival. Prefer to get in early in the afternoon, traffic is way better at that time.

I not thrill about the 4pm arrival but custom is quiet during that time. I usually get into the gulch by 5:30 and have a favourita waiting for me at the hotel. :D :D :D

cheers,
Attila

That is a real shame, that flight was a homerun :(

Didn't stop me from booking them for my August Civic Holiday weekend trip.

now they want to be called avianca. lacsa, taca, avianca. whatever.
the difference I noticed thru Guatemala was that they never served drinks. at 2am I ate breakfast and asked for strong cuba libre to knock me out. I was told it was early and never saw alcohol.
I think they have changed their policy here.

It's a good airline but since they got bought out by Avianca, they have priced themselves out of the market from NY. Just about every airline is cheaper. The only thing they had going for them was the non-stop, but that's gone too, so no gracias!

Strange that they have it from Toronto but not from NY, would have thought there'd be much greater demand there.
