My two cents worth. The biggest change from the 'good old days' is really the downturn in gringo sex tourists. Whether or not there will be a larger Colombian presence, the number of customers and the money they have to spend will not change significantly. I wish the Mona Lisa all the luck in the world, but from what I've seen and heard, the number of visiting mongers is not growing at any substantial pace.

Having myself considered a trip from here to Medellin, I can tell you the cost is high. With Medellin being the 'new' in-spot to go, at least according to several mongers I have overheard or read what they have written, I think it's quite possible there will not be a great influx of 10s at affordable prices even if visa restrictions are eliminated. IF they come here, it's not for the scenery, it's because they believe they can make significantly more money here. There's a sort of thermostat effect going on here. If more Colombiana 10s come and the increased 'supply' results in falling prices, the flow of 'imports' will go down because the price differential between their 'home' and CR will have narrowed.

Unless the demand rises here, I don't see the supply rising.

I agree 100%. However, hopefully as the economy improves more gringos will visit the gulch and bring more chicas out to work.

the internet has had powerful effect on mongering. guys that never heard of costa rica ten years ago discovered san jose via the web. i think many of these same guys have now found other places as wekk. san jose has not been replaced, but the a smaller percentage of mongers now go to cr than they once did, it seems to me. in other words, if five years ago 60 out of a hundred new mongers went to costa rica for their first trip [random number, not meant to be accurate, just illustratrive] perhaps 20 are now doing so. the rest the dr, colombia, pattaya, brazil, ect......

I also seriously doubt that the current President wants to bring up anything to do with Colombia immigration, after the most recent scandal, involving the free ride for the President on the narco jet that belonged the naturalized Colombian drug lord. Yeah, that's the Colombian with the sham marriage to the tica for immigration purposes. That topic has been at the top of the news for two solid weeks now.

Immigration and Colombia, great topic for this president. The public would eat her alive right now if she went there.

Wrong dude, dude: The sham marriage dude is the dude from Liberty Reserve, Arthur Budovsky, but agreed hot in the news . The suspected Colombian narc w/a nice jet for the presidenta to go to Peru and Venezuela, Gabriel Fallon, is not the dude.

Latest and greatest thing in Costa Rica immigration for Colombians that want to work is 'refugee status' in Costa Rica. Have run into at least 2 Colombian girls that have that designation. How they qualify for 'refugee status' being from MDE is beyond me...
