Remember Garfield? R.I.P. A Viet Nam legend in his own mind and anyone who'd listen, Beret, Silver Star, Medal of Honor nominee as per his obit in A.M.Costa Rica, the whole nine yards. He forgot I knew him way back when in Chicago. When I saw him for the first time years later in the Rey maybe 15 years ago, he was dressed in a cape, bare chested, except for a Purple Heart he wore disgracefully as a necklace. He acted like he didn't know me. He knew me.

The owner of fishing lodge Rio Colorado where Garfield was living in the jungle if you believe his latest/last friend who wrote the obit for the AM editor, incidentally a DUI lawyer in Louisiana not that that matters, took issue with me a few years ago when I posted "bullshit". He was going to get military verification and prove me wrong. Still waiting. I'll be waiting along time.

For those in town and for those that live here who are looking for an afternoon of good food and fun the Escazu American Legion post is holding an old fashion picnic in Santa Ana. This is the fourth annual and it is always a nice break from the gulch.

I don't know what your problem is with Dan Wise nor do I really care.What puzzles me is why describe him as a DUI lawyer? This is at least the second time you have done that on this forum. This time you qualify that description by adding "not that that matters". If it doesn't matter why do you continue to add it it in? Why not say "a lawyer in Mississippi" which is where he practices not Louisiana.

For the record Mr. Wise is not only a respected member of the Mississippi Bar he is a former judge. His practice as far as I know encompasses Personal Injury Law, Workers Compensation Law, Criminal Law, Domestic Relations Law, Corporate Law, Trial Appellate Practice in all State and Federal Courts and Bankruptcy Law. Given that his practice includes criminal law it is entirely possible he has represented persons charged with DUI but to label him a "DUI lawyer" for the purpose of denigrating his professional practice is unprofessional in my opinion.

"Never wore it on my lapel" There are approximately 24,000,000 living combat veterans, you may or may not have met one who was only a pretender. Because of this you cast suspicions on all veterans. I never ran into the individual you mention but had I my initial reaction would have been to believe him. Within minutes of that meeting I would know if he was legit or not. Were he a pretender I certainly would not let that cause a negative opinion of vets in general. From what little you have mentioned this other vet may well be legitimate, some of the bits of info might well indicate severe PTSD. As far as your grasp of all Chicago history from that era you would have to be very well informed to have kept track of every citizen of Chicago during that time frame. Lastly in the late 70's I was walking through a mall in my home town and I ran into a couple of class mates who assured me I had been killed in Nam. Up to that moment they were both positive about my demise. I am very happy to report they were wrong. As the years have progressed I have also run into classmates and childhood friends who were completely unaware of my military service but I assure you I did serve. As a final thought DGD I guess you can kiss my asss also.

I'll be in town memorial weekend and it would not bother me in the least to see any former vet proudly displaying it. Although I have never served my grandfather father and uncles have served. So if I happen to run into any vets that weekend I will give you a nice big Americanized hand shake and thank you for defending my freedom

Why are we talking about Vets on Memorial Day? You guys may be old but didn't die in service. Save this nonsense for November.

Your opinion is that me calling him a DUI lawyer is unprofessional. The fact is he had a website that touted him as being a specialitst in DUI that listed no other areas of concentration. A DUI lawyer is a good lawyer, so how did you get denigrating out of that?

And Mr. Stickler, the pain in the ass of fact searchers on CRT: How can he be a respected member of the MS bar practicing in all of these specialties (he'd be Superlawyer Supreme) when he's been on inactive status on the MS Master Roll of Attorneys (which means he quit and doesn't want to pay annual fees and comply with CLE requirements) while using a Miami PO Box? You didn't know that? C'mon Mr Stickler, citing facts doesn't apply to you? You could have said he's my friend from back in the day in SJ and I know, or is that why you qualify your bull with "as far as I know". And btw, where and what years was he a judge? I totally agree it isn't worth discussing, but Mr. Stickler who demands facts from every other poster brought it up, he being exempt from his own requirements. And Superlawyer publicly promised he'd prove goof ball was a hero. He never did.

So let me scrutinize your info like you have challenged dozens of guys on this board in the name of data, or your word of the day. Other then from Super Lawyer who has told you he has retired, what are your sources Stickler? Where did you learn he was a respected member of MS bar? Or a judge in Forest County MI 25 years ago? If it's just him, pretty weak. Kind of like believing Garfield.

When you talk to him today, ask him what happened with getting Garfield's records, Garfield lived with him. He'll also confirm he had a DUI website, now down. And really a stretch to think he went from the bench to advertising for DUI's and using a PO Box in MS (what does that mean to you?) way before he surrended his active license.

Archives? More smoke. The VA has co-authority to release vets records, along with the D of D, dead or alive. You want the form #? Here's a clue--it is now a crime in some states to falsely claim you received military honors.

And fellow CRT'ers, to avoid Mr Stickler's scrutiny and insults, your posts are OK as long as you add you "tend to believe" in your info. Right Stickler?
