Let's not fault Obama for "looking after" one of the USA's stablesluts. It was Costa Rica that sold itself to the US of A (USA needed a front operation to point to to proclaim "See! There is democracy in Central America!!! Look at Costa Rica....")....blah, blah, blah.

The US of A has to have at least one front of an operation to point to so that the other errant operations up and down the land.....from Mexico to Panama.....can be "scolded".....this fact, despite the other facts that CR is controlled by a handful of families and is as big a joke "democracy wise" as any other banana republic up and down.....from south Texas clear down to the southern most tip of Argentina.

Don't be hating on Obama for doing his job. Nope. Have a laugh at a country that sold itself cheap; drink a beer; and look around for some trim.....even that is getting more and more difficult to locate........

:P :P 8)   :!:

BRETHEREN
This just in from the Tico Times
Thoughts ???

President Laura Chinchilla and members of her Cabinet will hold a bilateral meeting with the U.S. delegation at the Foreign Ministry, known as the Casa Amarilla, in downtown San José.

In addition to his participation in the summit of presidents of the Central American Integration System (SICA) on May 3, U.S. President Barack Obama will join Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla in an event on Saturday with businessmen from the region, organized by the INCAE Business School and the Inter-American Development Bank.

Communications Minister Francisco Chacón said that Obama and the Central American presidents will arrive in the country on the afternoon of May 3. The Air Force One will land at 2:05 pm.

Chinchilla and members of her Cabinet will then hold a bilateral meeting with the U.S. delegation at the Foreign Ministry, known as the Casa Amarilla, in downtown San José at 3 pm. They will then hold a press conference.

The SICA summit will take place in the late afternoon at the Culture Ministry (CENAC). The presidents will then meet for a working dinner.

Friday will be a day off for public employees in seven cantons in three provinces, as Transit Police will block off many routes that the presidents will use to attend the various events.

In Alajuela, public workers will have a day off in the Central canton, and in Heredia in the canton of Belén. In the capital, the day off applies for bureaucrats at public offices in the Central, Escazú (west), Montes de Oca (east), Goicoechea (north) and Curridabat (east) cantons.

Chacón said it is still unknown whether a delegation of businessmen or commerce authorities of his Cabinet will accompany Obama.

Sorry I can't help you. I'm not much of an MP guy. I also think Obamabamabama should make some time to get down and dirty with CRs most important attribute.

I like Paseo Colon, my old favorite "Oasis" is about 3 blocks North of KFC, and around the corner is MP 360, I haven't been there but have heard good things about it and there are threads here giving directions. There are several others, again, some threads here name them and describe their locations. All of them are cheaper than Gringoland MP's and wonderful gems can be found. Lot's of these places offer economical 2'fers as well. Also, this area is relatively safe, I have walked all around and never been hassled, plus buses and taxis are all over if you get tired of walking.

Hail a cab and tell him KFC, Paseo Colon and start your journey.

Lots of great cheap Tico sodas are all over with great food, and if you like Asian food there's great Chinese and Korean restaurants across from Oasis. If you have a taste for hot exotic Asian food, try the Korean Bar B Q beef. Tons of little shops, a nice park and mucho choices of inexpensive poontang make a nice day of healthy strolling, pounding and dining, what a country ! :D

Great ! Good hunting, don't forget to report back your findings, I believe there are about 4 or more mp's in that general area to choose from, some other guys may know of them and be able to opine. 8)

Secret service is already here! Walked into my office at 7:30 this morning in Guanacaste and did a double take at a sexy 40 something woman in business attire. Noticed her secret service badge and then saw the other team members about 10 to 12 total exiting the buffet restaurant.

So a bunch of Secret Service agents are hanging out at a buffet restaurant at 730am, with their badges hanging out so they can be easily made? Makes sense.

The visit of U.S. President Barack Obama, who will attend a meeting of the Central American Integration System (SICA) on Friday, will alter the daily lives of Ticos in the central canton of San José, as Friday will be a day off for all public workers.

Obama arrives in Costa Rica at 2:05 p.m. and will be received by President Laura Chinchilla at the Juan Santamaría International Airport, north of San José.

Traffic along the General Cañas Highway – which connects the capital with the province of Alajuela – and on 2nd Avenue in downtown San José, will be blocked at different times during the afternoon, starting at Paseo Colón.

There also will be intermitent street closures in Route 27 (San José-Puntarenas) and on the Circunvalación, a belt route around the capital. The hours and exact locations of the president's travels were not disclosed due to security protocols, Public Security Minister Mario Zamora said in a press conference Tuesday.

Obama will arrive at the Foreign Ministry in San José's Barrio Amón, where he will meet with Chinchilla at 3:05 p.m. They will hold a press conference at the National Cultural Centre, across the street, at 5:05 p.m. He will then move to the National Theater, where the first part of the meeting of the SICA presidents will be held during a working dinner.

Routes to the hotel where Obama will stay will also be blocked. The U.S. president may stay at a hotel in the canton of Belén, in the province of Heredia, or in Escazú, southwest of San José.

Most public services in the central canton of the capital and in the province of Alajuela will be suspended Friday. This means that public banks, the Immigration Administration, the Finance Ministry, the National Insurance Institute and the Ministry of Culture will be closed to general public.

Patient visitation is suspended as well at Calderón Guardia Hospital on Friday, except for very special cases that will be decided by the hospital's administration. Calderón Guardia Hospital was selected as the official medical facility for any emergency that might occur during the president's events.

Officials from the Social Security System, or Caja, reported on its Facebook page that “all medical services in all other hospitals will operate normally on Friday, May 3.” Local health centers, or EBAIS clinics, health administration facilities and hospitals will work regular hours. Only the Caja's administrative offices located in the central canton will be closed.

The Comptroller General's Office and the Agriculture Ministry in front of La Sabana Park also will be closed, as well as the campus of the University of Costa Rica (east of San José), where all Friday classes are suspended.

The Public Works and Transport Ministry reported that driving permit offices located in La Uruca (west of San José), Paso Ancho (south) and in the province of Alajuela will be closed.

All artistic performances at the National Theater, Melico Salazar Theater and Vargas Calvo Theater (behind the National Theater) also are suspended on Thursday and Friday. Plays and concerts will resume on Saturday as previously scheduled.

On Saturday, official activities begin at 11 a.m., when Obama attends a meeting with businessmen from the region at the Antigua Aduana facilities, where he will briefly stay. The U.S. president takes off on Air Force-1 back to Washington, D.C. at around noon on Saturday.

No way I am going to venture into San Jose this weekend...traffic is normally bad but this is going to put it into disaster zone territory.

I spotted a bunch of them at the D.R. last night, all flashing their badges.
