Looks like Phoenix Rising must be having trouble logging on to the new revised board seeing how his usual jumping up and down screaming that the Dodgers have the best record in baseball in the 2013 season has not been posted so I will help him out.

Off course he would have failed to mention that 12 other teams have the same record so I will skip posting that fact to keep this in authentic PR mode. :P

while it is without dispute that there are some serious dodger homers around here one thing is not in dispute.
things have changed and the new ownership proved that when sandy koufax threw out the first pitch. awesome moment.
then watching clayton kershaw throw a four hitter into the eighth and homer to break a 0-0 deadlock was brilliant.
i think this season has a great chance to be amazing and an equal chance to be agonizing.
i for one am counting the minutes to game time tonight and the new korean K*D ryu making his major league debut.
GO BLUE!

your both wrong Detroit Tigers are going to win it all. Resigned pitching, got rid of Valverde (thank god), added Tory Hunter and Victor Martinez is back.

This a line up:

Jackson
Hunter
Cabrera
Fielder
Martinez
Dirks
Peralta
Avila
Infante

Plus we got pitching, defense, bullpen, bench and major speed in the outfield. this is a better team than went to the world series last year by far

Hope the minutes went quickly because the game was agonizingly long for Ryu. He got hit pretty hard and only some double plays kept him out of serious trouble early on.

A postscript just for PR. Seattle Mariners best record in baseball. :P

yeah he wasn't exactly a mystery. watched nearly the entire game and he was getting squeezed quite a bit more than baumgartner but he hung in there. strongly disliked him grounding to third and practically walking toward first.
and our ss who is supposed to have a glove while hanley rehabs directly cost us two runs. i think he is in AAA this morning, if not i'm not sure why.
i'm more concerned about the offense top to bottom. why mattingly sat crawford in the second game idk. kemp does not look like his shoulder is fine. gonzo looks like a warning track power guy again and eithier is the streakiest player in the game not to mention a platoon against lefties. maybe aj ellis can carry us.
fwiw i didn't like the boston deal. was nice to get gonzo but all in all as i said it has as much potential for disaster as it does success. i'm a dodger fan but not an abject homer.

I am neither a Dodger fan or a Dodger hater. I only started this thread to preempt Phoenix Rising from starting another of his obnoxious rants about how great the Dodgers and Jets are.

I no longer have a favorite baseball team and have not had one since my beloved Brooklyn Dodgers left Flatbush for lala land.

I am still a huge fan of the game but my viewing choice of games is made for me by ESPN. The game last night was LA vs SF so that why I commented about Ryu.

Thanks ID! I really appreciate your support ! :D :D No problem logging on, but yes I am in the trenches doing the work of a good CRT soldier, this time in asia, and was 39000 feet high , a couple miles south of the Aleutian islands on my way back from LOS when Kershaw had his fine outing.

Will enjoy contributing to this thread over the next few months as LA makes its way to its first World Series championship in many moons! What excitement!

Such a pity you abandoned your beloved Dodgers just because they moved out west. It was the right move at the time for that organization. My dad (born Bklyn 1932) had the strength of character to stand by this team.. and he passed along the love of Dodger blue to me... way after they were long gone. It has been tough, would have been easier to do as you did, and become say, a YANKEE fan   but I stayed true.

Incidentally i noticed you didnt mention the other team I am obnoxiously a supporter of... the Miami Heat... an obvious oversight .... LOL...

But thanks again ! it's good to see a gentler and kinder ID!!!

You're the best!!! :D :D :D :D :D

It would seem your history of the reason for the move west is a bit cloudy. Walter O'Malley wanted to keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn and had plans drawn to construct a new Ebbets Field. The old Ebbets field had inadequate parking for the fan base that had moved, thanks to the GI bill for returning WWII and Korean conflict vets, to Long Island (can you say Levittown?) and even New Jersey. Not to mention that the old stadium was indeed old and needed major renovation.

O'Malley chose a site that was near to public transportation and the plans called for a domed stadium. However, Robert Moses whose title was NYC construction Coordinator but was in fact more powerful than the Mayor or any of the Borough Presidents could single handedly make or break any project. Moses wanted a stadium built in Queens and refused to condemn the property in Brooklyn O'Malley needed to build his stadium. The sight in Queens eventually became Shea Stadium.

When L.A. sniffed out the impasse between O'Malley and Moses they made the move to offer the Dodgers 350 acres at no cost to build their stadium. O'Malley not only accepted but convinced Horace Stoneham to move the Giants also. So you can really credit Robert Moses more than O'Malley for the move. Without Moses the Dodgers would most likely have stayed in Brooklyn.

Thats one way to view it but what we can agree on no Dodger fan either Brooklyn or Los Angles would ever root for the hated Yankees.

I remember watching the HBO documentary on the Dodgers, The phucked up thing was that Walter O'Malley wanted to build a new stadium in Brooklyn with his own money, no taxpayers money, his own, and Robert Moses acting like a dictator just said no to the Brooklyn site. After the Dodgers and Giants left he helped formed the Mets to appease the Dodgers and Mets fan.
