Anybody know anything about gun laws in CR, specifically pistols for home defense?

I don't know anything about CR gun laws, but, if you are looking for home defense, I would seriously consider a 12 Gauge shot gun. I would load it with No.6 birdshot. If you are upfront and personal you will not regret it. A lot of people reccomend 00 buckshot, so it just sails thru the wall into the next condo, apartment or whatever. A lot of messy clean up and pending lawsuits, jail or whatever. There is nothing like the sound of snick/snack of a round going into the chamber of a 12 gauge.
NO. 6 will do just fine, and a lot times you don't have to worry about laws regarding handguns.
Oh and make sure you put a full choke cylinder in.

Oh Yeah, I almost forgot, just point, click and shoot.

Information in the article is up to date. It is actually pretty east to get the carry permit, IF you are a permanent resident or citizen. It's now impossible to do it any other way, even with a corporation.

If relocating to Costa Rica, consider initial residency application will require 1 year, followed by 2 years temporary residence and then more time to convert temporary to permanent. Figure, a total of 4 years, living in Costa Rica from the day you file first residency paperwork.
