Quite possible.....

However I have always known this site to be a free exchange of information among Gentlemen. However full disclosure might be a good idea for objective reading.

Full disclosure would be a damn phucking good idea at this point. There are probably noobs reading this post thinking they have some inside info on where to stay. jesus.

******* runs a website that competes with CRT. He is quite clear that he has animosity towards CRT and Sportsmen's Lodge. Let me say that again, ******* is VERY CLEAR about his animosity towards CRT and Sportsmen's Lodge.

SL is EASILY the best place to stay in San Jose....my opinion...and I've been doing this shit VERY regularly for 5 years running.

And Dunn Inn is ....*cough* Dunn Inn. That's their goddamned name. Not some other pejorative term for the hotel. They are called Dunn Inn and that is how you will find them on a search of this site, or in a Google search.

The OP is misleading...at best.

At the end of the day, I know how to have a good time in CR. No bullshit post ....no character attacks.... No LAME ASS posturing makes a damn bit of difference when you are in CR...sipping a beer at your favorite establishment, and having the time of your life.

I find it hard to want to even post on this site when I run into the shit I run into here. The REALITY of CR is so much different...so easy, so refreshing...compared to the nonsense that, from time to time, gets posted here.

Big City Thick Skin? I was born and raised in Brooklyn NY. So I am not sure I understand what you mean by the comment. Anyhow, the bottom line is, why should any customer want to deal with any kind of negative vibe from the ownership of a business they are patronizing? Most of us work hard for our leisure dollars to give it over to a business owner with a bad atitude towards customers. What am I missing?

i get along great with NYers. usually because they could give two shits about what people are doing or thinking. they don't even pretend. i could easily launch into a tirade of reasons i personally dislike a person. but its my personal experience. likely it mirrors yours. shit spanky and i nearly lit the bar on fire one night. he has alienated a lot of people. and he doesn't seem to give a Phuck. so why would i rent him any space in my head? you choose to vote w your dollars. i get it. i still refuse to go to a dodger game because mccourt sees money from the parking lots.
if i'm drinking at night you normally see me at SL. and on my way out i might roll up the street just for old time sakes. not to mention there are many times i find some of the guys i really like to talk to sitting around sipping rum. 8)

Why Admin allows his competitors (Well knock-off copy-cat website operators) to come here and cause controversy baffles me. :?

First is was posts under the previous Handle, 'Havana Mike' promoting Cuba as a lead-in so followers could mule (smuggle) cigars back for him.

Then it was posts about the HLH for issues with their security guards and unhappy cigar customers. This situation affected no one but the poster and really nobody cared but the poster. No post needed on this site. Should have been sufficient enough on his own site.

I don't blame Havana Mike (Cigar Guy) or his new website owner name ******* (Copy Cat Website Guy) for trying to promote here. Just a little desperate. :(

Come on ICS the guy is making tons of friends here that are leaving CRT in droves to join his site and stay at HLH  Maybe nobody reads his site that why he has to paste here and 6 other sites?

Why would a customer have to be put in a position like that in the first place, to have to confront the owner of a business in any regard? I run a business as well, and if I treated my customers in that manner I would not be in business for 15 years with repeat customers as I have. Anyway, the bottom line is this is a competitive market, I come to SJO for fun and R&R and no problem in finding a property that suits my needs.

You obviously "get it" :) - lots of business owners don't - its all about customer service - I have no dog in this fight but I'd be god damned if I'd spend my money anywhere the owner of an establishment was a jerk - regardless of the feeling that "he would do anything for his customers" - how about starting with not being an asshole?

bottom line is, why should any customer want to deal with any kind of negative vibe from the ownership of a business they are patronizing? Most of us work hard for our leisure dollars to give it over to a business owner with a bad attitude towards customers. What am I missing?

Uh....nothing  - anyone who does not agree w/ this needs their head examined - everyone has their own reasons and way of doing things - frankly, LA'd, I wish i could ignore things more - but not when I'm spending my money - I grew up in NY (Long Island) so i know what you are saying - but regardless of geography, a jerk is a jerk, and while its great you can ignore one, FOR ME, I'd just as soon take my business elsewhere :)

Scuba 1:

You got it! But how can anyone not get this basic customer service requirement? By the way, I am friends with several people who still stay at the Amistad with reasons that take priority over and above the owner's inapproproate business behavior. I cannot elaborate as it is personal stuff but they all dislike him as well.

Found it interesting that he mentions the events and promotions at HLH yet fails to mention the top notch events at SL such as Halloween, Super Bowl, Thanksgiving and the party coming up this weekend. You can include the DR as well in regards to special events.

I know what it is like to put out info and get all sorts of opinions so I appreciate ********'s opinions on hotels. There is one aspect that ******** did miss in all of this and depending on what you are looking for The Gulch has a great choice of options based on what you are looking for. There are hotels where women are on site and some where they are not but yet there is no problem bringing a girl back to the room. Some hotels are set up where you can sleep early without noice but some have alll night parties depending on your taste. While I respect ******** and his review perhaps a better review should be based on what you are looking for.

Luckily there are alot great owners at the hotels in the gulch who care about taking care of the guestsand providing us a great experience based on what we are looking for. My 2 cents worth anyway.

Scuba, I think you're missing this - Matt runs a great establishment and treats his guests very well, at least from my experience.

I am always mystified at these negative comments about Matt. From where I sit Amistad provides great customer service and he's always pleasant to me, my guests, and any other folks who happen to be there while I'm there. I've never seen this "other" Matt, and I've stayed at Amistad multiple times.

Matt is opinionated and talks a lot, so I can see why some people might have a problem with him.

The templates for what a hotel owner or manager should act like are as follows: Bill of the SL, Guy Grand of the Mona Lisa and Boyd. Period!!

Not sure his employers would agree with your number 3.

ID, I hear you, and I knew that issue would come up, I should have prefaced it with how Boyd usually treated the hotel guests. His other life is another story of course, but never affected me, thats the bottom line.
