I`m once again staying at the Freebird as I always do and I have to say Dennis is a great host . He will do anything for to make your stay the best it can be and the location is just great. For most guys you can sleep on any matteress but I need a good firm one with a soft pillow top and of all the hotels I have stayed at the Freebird has one of the best. There is no air con but you don`t need it ,the rooms are always cool even on th hotest days. I wrote this review just to let the CRT members know this is a good little hotel and it is really a little gem.

Great location but that has its downside, a half block off Ave 2, the busiest street downtown, so it's very, very loud all night from vehicular noise. There's only a tin roof. Really not a hotel, an old house with the rear carved up into two private rooms, remodeled, but with a common door between and so you can clearly hear everything from the next room, everything, TV, conversation, sex. Two more rooms behind those that share a bathroom, kind of like a hostel. The private rooms are not cheap for what you are getting, same price or more than the Mona Lisa which is a hotel. Owner is a great host, so if you don't mind the traffic noise from outside or next room, and not being in a hotel, it's OK but no way a gem IMHO.

I would think hearing sexin in the next room is like watching pron. never heard any late night traffic when I stayed in the up stairs front room. maybe i sleep deeper than most.. I liked the place the nn suites were a good value IMO. as they say in LOS up to you

i stayed at he freebird back last october & found dennis to be a gracious, charming & memorable host ~ i took one of the rooms in the back ~ nice room ~ shared bathroom was clean ~ safe place & a good value w/crt cash discount ~ was out late & just happy to get any sleep before the sun arouse & the chicka headed out de door ~ am happy to have checked it out as i always enjoy options when i am in san jose ~ dennis is quite firm in his beliefs ~ he is entitled to his opinion ~ ~ everybody has one.....
