I just booked a R/T ticket from Philadelphia to San Jose for a long Labor Day weekend. This fare is not yet posted on the USAIRWAYS website, however, I came across it this afternoon on the AOL travel site. The discounted fare is available on weekdays only with a connection in either Charlotte (CLT) or Fort Lauderdale (FLL). USAIRWAYS International Reservations toll free number is: 1-800-622-1015.

Hey Bluedevil, I hope you put that on a credit card as U.S. Airways might not be in action by Labor Day. I never book that far out. You can get a great rate 30 days before if you book during the week. Just a thought.

Try Travelocity. I just tried it for June 3-8 from Chicago and found fares in the low 300's plus taxes, etc. This was with United. As long as you are flexible with dates you shouldn't have a problem.

I fly to SJO out of Chicago quite often. Grab anything that is between $300-400. Quite often, I get it from about $329. Also, sometimes sites like travelocity are competitive with the airline sites, but may give you shorter travel time.

AAA,

It depends on where you're starting from. I've corresponded with guys in South Florida and Texas who seem to be able to book flights at the last minute with no problem.

The Green Season has begun, and hotel vacancies should be possible to find, even at this late date, particularly if you're willing to stay at a less-traveled hotel. If CRT alumni favorites such as the Sportsmen's Lodge, Hotel Del Rey, Presidente, Amon Plaza and Europa are full, you may still find comfortable lodging at other hotels in or near the Gulch. Search the "Hotels" section of this forum for reviews and contact information.

I really envy those guys here who can pick up and go to Costa Rica at a moment's notice; sadly, I need to plan at least three months out before going almost anywhere...
