That could be because of the allege threats the Del Rey have imposed on the working girls. I'm currently down here right here right now and heard from a couple of chicas and fellow mongerers that the Del Rey will ban any working girls who starts to hang out at the Mona Lisa. don't know if its true or not.

I heard the same from a few of the chicas I spent time with. DR management took the girls aside and told them not to be seen at the SL or ML or they are not welcome at the DR.

With the Sportsman and the Mona Lisa up and running, soon the chicas wont need to go to the Del Rey anymore. I despise monopolies and the Del Rey threatening the chicas really pisses me off.

Hopefully soon there will be a tipping point where the chicas move to the Sportsman's and the Mona Lisa, then the Del Rey will have to kiss the chicas ass to come back. Most chicas I know don't think one day ahead so I am not convinced that many of them would care about the Del Rey threats anyway.

Just checked into the Mona. Room is much nicer than the delrey, junior suite for 80$, 42" tv, sofa and a couple wingback chairs that I know are going to get put to good use tonight. Am here two nights and will update if there is an issue getting girls to come here from the hdr.

On another note this is my first post, thanks to the community for all the invaluable info.

probably more like a rule about hanging out in the place and not going directly to the room and back out. hard to tell someone they can't take the money period because a guy stays there.

But what I'm betting is he's using the term "tica" to mean whore - Seriously, 'Toad, if you are, don't - really disrespectful - tica just means female Costa Rican - lots of guys use the term incorrectly, and the title of this site does not help (it also really pisses off ticos; Costa Rican males).

While they could, seems like a really stupid policy, b/c lets not forget, there is a symbiotic relationship between the HDR and the working girls - they need each other.

That said, the management can ban anyone they choose, and like the smoking ban, or the Presidente's guest policy changes, Its OK for me to give an opinion but since I'm not in a position to change anything, not going to get all twisted about it.

I think the idea of the HDR doing "detective" work to see if a random girl goes into the ML, Sportsmans, and if caught will result in a ban of some time away from the HDR, is unworkable, and just plain stupid - but their playground and they can make the rules, I suppose. Just sounds a little dumb to me

3 nights at ML so far. Cool vibe. The guys running it are busting their asses to get things going right. Mostly getting it right but as in any startup, kinks need to be worked out. Certainly asking for feedback from guests daily and fixing issues on the spot shows me that they care. I really like the bar area, the restaurant area. Very comfortable on the 4th floor. Yorleni here now giving great massages. Going back for my second today. Location is great. Menu is sufficient, but they say they are working on it. All employees seem to really care that I am having a good time. Heard this from everyone except the guy at the bar who conveniently didn't have a card or money, or the drunk who they wouldn't serve anymore. The line up of bartenders is impressive. I have been a fan of the Dunn for the part two years, but the turnover in the bar there had made me feel like a newcomer every time I visited this week. That is still a good hotel, and the ML should be good for its business. I give this place about 6-8 weeks until it is working as it should, but am having a hell of a great time here so far.

These girls are independent contractors so how can any one place tell them where they can work?
Also whose following them around to see where they are going?

Perhaps you are not old enough to remember the signs that use to be prevalent in many areas of the U.S. that stated:

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"

That concept is alive and well in Costa Rica so the HDR has the ability to deny admittance to its premises to anyone. Costa Rica supposedly has non discrimination laws but it is not unusual to see help wanted signs or ads that say.
