I totally agree. My first trip in April I was a bit worried about the BM after reading all the stories. But IMO the place is great fun. I mostly stayed around the tables by the window, or just stood, a bit away from of the main throng at the bar. Chica after chica would come by and give me a try. I would buy them a drink if I had any interest and spend some time getting to know them (aka the interview). If they did not turn out to be the right one I would politely send them away. If we got along well then bargaining was no problem and generally received well. Of all the great things I did learn on this site before my first trip I really did not understand the BM. It is just something you have to do.

I would definitely take along RBC100's MP list. On my trip I did MP's by day and the BM at night. FWIW

On the streets after dark:

As an observation from someone who has spent much time in the Del Rey but until recently virtually no time outside of the Del Rey after dark. On my last trip I had one day added unexpectedly. The Del Rey was full but got a room at the Morazan. That night I made the trip from the Morazan to the Del Rey many times. I was surprised by the activity I saw their. That is by the number of girls on the streets that appeared not to be making any attempt to get into one of the hotels. And by the number of girls that were refused entry to the Del Rey.

Much later that night I found myself at the bar above the lobby of the holiday inn. Were I became amused by the continuous flow of older man with young things in hand into the lobby of the hotel. And the continuous flow of sweet young things back out that the door with somewhat heavier purses. At $25 ahead the holiday was doing well that night. At one point in the evening I was joined at the bar by some gentlemen from Europe who were curious as to where these gentlemen were finding their companions. Imagine their response when I told them there was hundreds of them just two blocks over. I was just trying to do my part to improve relations with Europe.

I do hesitate saying this but on my next trip ( June 3rd. ) I will spend a little more time outside the Del Rey after dark. My hesitation in saying that comes from not wishing to encourage anyone to do business on the street. If you've read much of what I've put on this board you know I'm fascinated by the activities of the Del Rey and now with the new category to add to my list of studies I'm anxious to get back. Like I need a reason.

Morazan Park:
Once again I really do hesitate saying this but to add to something I said above. Most of the man coming into the holiday with a Lady were coming through the Park. This is not a practice anyone encourages and it was probably due to the heavy traffic flow that it was a viable thing that night. I will also note that most of the ladies coming out of the holiday were getting into taxis. It could be that the more experience know better.

PS: A taxi ride from the Morazan to the Holiday was 300C.

Perhaps some of these are the less travelled MP girls who need mas dinero? In the DomRep, almost all the girls on the street were indie pros. In BKK (Thailand) it is said that if you are around the Nana Plaza at closing, HUNDREDS of girls , who weren't taken from the bars, are walking and looking for that special guy.

Do the interview, if you are interested. Never know what you might find.

Whew Lee,I was worried about your new friends there for a minute until you said that their chicas got into taxis. If they had just left the Holiday Inn and went back to work ACROSS THE STREET IN THE PARK I would have been sorry for them. To you Lee,be careful as you venture out from your known habitat of the DR. Some of the chicas that you may encounter on the streets may have some extra equipment that you weren't expecting. (something from 5-8 inches and it isn't a knife that I am talking about)

The thing you're forgetting is that SJ is not the DomRep or BKK and the BM NEVER closes. One might manage to pickup a chica on her way between the BM and the KL, but why bother standing in the street waiting for the right chica to walk by when you can be sitting in the bar listening to the music, checking out all the assembled ladies, drinking an Imperial and letting them come to you. There's no advantage to doing your shopping outdoors - for you or them. It doesn't cost them anything to go to a bar, so they're not likely to charge you any less than they could make inside. Sure the MP girls might charge less because they don't have to share with the house. But isn't it better to meet them first at the MP, find out how good they are in a reasonably safe environment and then get their number or arrange to meet later, rather than to take your chances with an unknown quantity off the street. Few if any MP girls are going to hang around Morazon Park on the off-hand chance a gringo might pick them up after they've just finished a 8 hour shift at the MP. Unlike DR or BKK, the only ones that would just be hanging out on the street plying her wares are there for a reason and usually a not-so-good one.

Your concern for my well-being is most admirable. But I assure you until the CIA issues me my portable DNA tester I will not be doing any shopping on the street. My interest is only as an observer. The Europeans I meant at the Holiday were aware of the gender of the available what-evers in the park but were perplexed as to where the good stuff was coming from. I recognize most of the girls coming through the door as girls I had seen at the Blue Marlin.



I wound up spending the night at the Holiday as my friend that I had gone there to see decided to leave early that evening and gave me the key to his room. Having already made use of the room at the Morazan for the purpose it was intended I packed up and moved over to the Holiday for the night. One day three hotels .

Why would you even want to when you can even go to a MP for dirt cheap like at OASIS. YOu can even find a $10 place. If you are too cheap for that, why even come to Costa Rica.

My first morning in Jaco I had walked from one end of the beach to the other and halfway back. While walking buy the beach bar'"Bohio" I think it is called, A guy I met the night before, Joe called me over and we started drinking coronas at about 1100 am. His buddies from Tenn. soon joined us. After a couple rounds it was my turn to buy so I headed to the bar. There was this beautiful lady sitting at the bar and she hit me up for a whiskey, she had smooth pretty legs and a beautiful face. I chit chatted with her for a minute and headed back to my table to join my thirsty new friends. I noticed the bartender gave me a strange look when I bought her a drink.Any way when it was Joes turn for a round he headed to the bar. While he was at the bar, another guy from Tenn. came up and introduced himself to all of us. He informed me that I had just bought a transvestite a drink. We all turned to get a good look and there was ole Joe with his arm around her, she had a fresh whiskey in front of her and Joe had the biggest smile on his face. Joe thought he had hit the jackpot. We all laughed like hell and I orderd everybody at our table a shot of tequila. Hey, I had just bought my first transvestite a drink in front of twenty people, why be mad, chaulk it up to experience and have a laugh. When Joe came back to our table he said hey, "did yall see me with that hot chica at the bar" We all died laughing as I pushed his shot of tequila in front of him. When we told him he didnt believe us. A few minutes later the tranny came walking by, in the sunlight you could see the adams apple and a small bulge in its pants. Raw...this could have been the same tall Vesti that my buddy from Mexico met when we were are Bar Central over a year ago in Jaco. This tall fabulously dressed "girl" strutted into the bar and really stood out in the crowd. We had both had a lot of tequila, but I fortunately have a 6th sense for these things. My bud on the other hand didnt...and I encouraged him to go ask "her" to dance. He was out there with a shit eating grin...doing his best senual 'mamba" with his new mama. When he came back and "she" went to the ladies room, my buddy asked me if I thought "she" was a hooker. Since he was my friend, I had to break the news that, "yes...but not the kind you think.
