But, Can you pay Movistar on Master pago? I have an account. Or do you need someone down there to do it or thru a CR bank (I don't)?

Does anyone know if the ice/kolbi store at airport accepts USD? Or one has to get colones before buying sim card?

Can anyone give any of the latest prices for a phone ready to use at the airport store/kiosk?

I'm debating getting an unlocked one off of ebay but it seems that it may be cheaper/equal to get one there and I know it will work.

I have seen promotions in CR where you can buy a basic phone with some minutes included for about $60 US. Maybe Kolbi has that in the airport.

If you are a regular visitor to CR I would suggest investing in a decent unlocked phone and buy from Amazon. Just remember to make sure the frequency bands are 1800 for GSM and 850 for 3g (recommended).

I found a quad band phone for $20 at Walmart when I did a search for "unlocked".

Can anyone tell me if a AT&T GoPhone will work down there if I buy a SIM at one of the local CR shops?

I bought an AT&T GoPhone after I broke the phone I had. The one I bought was a dual band, and it did not have the band used in CR. I have not had any problems getting the unlock code from AT&T for any of their phones. They offered to give me the code for the dual band, but I declined because I couldn't use it in CR. I repaired the original phone and use it in CR. AT&T provided the unlock code for it without any problem.

You can no longer recharge online on the ICE website to recharge Kolbi prepagos. You can still recharge on Masterpago.

Yep, last few months, and that's too bad because the ICE website would give you the name of the person the Sim was purchased by when you recharged. Occasionally that was interesting. MasterPago doesn't.

Maybe that was the problem. Anybody with a chica's phone number could find out some information. It appears you now have to register on the ICE website. Maybe after you register your sim can be recharged?

Can someone with the knowledge post the number of days a sim card is valid if you don't recharge it? The guy at the kiosk at the airport told me. I think he said 120 days, but I don't remember.

120 at least with Kolbi, that's on their website and I confirmed it with a live chat on ICE.
